where does linein writes to
I have tried broadcasting from both SuSE Linux and Slackware and with various programs being the last one Tim`s Mixice (which is a perl script that works along with a program called catdsp). Looking at the source I saw that this programs, both of them, try to open /dev/dsp. Now, my question is if /dev/dsp is the standard device for the line-in of the audio card? I have tried, as suggested in

Voice Modem + Soundcard Driver
The problem with using Voice Modems is that they fall into two categories: 1) Hardware Modems which only have half-duplex transmission of voice 2) Soft/Win/Lin modems which are proprietry and don't have asterisk drivers Please shoot down this recipe before I waste any time trying to acheive it: Rationalisation: ---------------- In Australia and I assume other places, there is no

fixed point speex on a texas dsp + real time acquizition
hello, My project is to implemente an audio compression algorhitm on a DSP TMS320DM642. I think that SPEEX can be a good choice because fixed-point have been developed. I would want to know how I can choose the fixed point in the program I want to know if it is possible to do a real time acquizition and to compresse in real time the audio input signal. By example, I have on my demonstration card

audio recorder compatibility
I'm shopping for a small/tiny audio recorder, the kind for recording in a class, interviews, etc... not really music, just voice. Per usual, a lot of these write their audio files in some Windows format, e.g., WMA. As a confirmed Linux guy, I'd want to offload the audio files in some format that Linux can read/play natively. I've read a sketchy suggestion that there's a Linux

Winamp streaming to icecast2
Hello, I'm trying to set up winamp to stream a live event to an icecast2 server. I've got the icecast2 server set up, and to date have streamed playlists only via ices0 or ices2, now I'm wanting to stream live using winamp. Software wise, I'm needing to use free or open source software, the icecast2 server is a Linux machine, the Winamp will be on either a Win7 or a WinXP

more fun with LAME - error in bitstream?
Hi folks! Having trouble with re-encoding to 160Kbps. I have: Linux-Mandrake 8.2 Icecast 1.3.12 IceS 0.2.2 source Lame 3.92 Hardware is: Celeron 533 w/256MB RAM, 40GB Disk All seems to work at first but after a few songs it craps out and give me an ERROR WITH BITSTREAM (or something real close...sorry). Anyone using ffmpeg as a source-client?
I'm just wondering if ffmpeg is a reliable Icecast source-client -- a "pusher" to send a stream to an Icecast server and runs 24/7/365 dependably. -- That Jack Elliott (541) 848 7021 KPOV 88.9 FM High Desert Community radio Host, The Sunday Classics On 8/27/2019 10:58 AM, Alejandro wrote: > When you say as Source Client, means like listener? > > i'm using for push

Check out if there is another application using /dev/dsp. Especially if you have Mandrake and KDE, because Mandrake set up artd (a sound server for KDE) by default. You should also check out the permissions for /dev/dsp. The user who is trying to run liveice (or whatever) must be allowed to open /dev/dsp. I hope It Help you. <p> --- Luis Gallardo. I have seen this behavour with my mixice streaming program too if the channels are turned down or if the line input is not set for "record". Using "aumix" or "mixer" can find out how they are set and can be used to adjust them. Line input to client for Icecast Server
My needs are simple. I need a Windows client to accept the line input on my sound board and stream it to an Icecast server. I plan to encode the stream at 56kbps stereo. I tried this about 2 years ago using Winamp with the Oddsock plugin. This turned out to be a very time-wasting excersize in futility. I gave up, but now I'm back hoping the technology (and documentation) is there. My
