How to connect R and WinBUGS/OpenBUGS/LinBUGS in Linux in Feb. 2009
...ger on CRAN, but
old versions can still be found), rbugs, and R2WinBUGS (which I'm used to
using on Windows with WinBUGS). Some people say R2WinBUGS cannot run
OpenBUGS on Linux, some claim they've done it (I think). It seems the same
thing with everything else. I've tried making the linbugs and cbugs file
recommended elsewhere online. It's all very confusing.
Can someone show a method that works currently, along with some sample code?
I'm also new to Linux, and confused by path conventions. For example, in
rbugs, it shows an example of a path such as
"/var/scratch/jy...

Making R talk to Win/OpenBUGS in Linux (again)
...nually
open the bugs.script file and then choose "Model/Script". it just
returns a screen full of errors saying the commands fail. I don't
think rbugs gets even that far, however, since the WinBUGS window does
pop up, but nothing happens.
rbugs has been retooled to emphasize use of linbugs, the
OpenBUGS-based thing for linux, but I can't get linbugs to run at all
on my system, and the linbugs program itself appears to have been
removed from OpenBUGS distribution altogether. (I'm following that
with separate email to the OpenBUGS group).
I think JAGS is the right long term s...

Current state of support for BUGS access for Linux users?
...is in Linux? I have found
a plethora of possibilities, some of which are not quite ready, some
of which work only under MS Windows. Right now I just want to know
"what actually works".
Here's where I stand now in Fedora Core 4 Linux.
1. OpenBUGS-2.1.1 runs in Linux. I can run "linbugs" (the console
version similar to the old BUGS) and also I can run--under wine--the
newest version of "winbugs.exe" that is circulated with OpenBUGS. As
far as I can tell, the graphical interface in wine/winbugs works in
almost all elements. A few things seem not quite right in the...

Bayesina Analysis using the BUGS Language
Hi all,
I observed that the 'link' between R and BUGS (winBugs/linBugs) has
totally disappeared. I'm wondering what package can be use to run
bayesian models specified using the BUGS language in R (specifically
under Linux). Is there any other option besides JAGS ?
Thanks

BRugs under Linux?
...e Ligges suggests using BRugs rather than R2WinBUGS under windows. He
also notes that it is not in the main CRAN repository, but it is in
"extras" which is a default repository under windows.
I have OpenBUGS 3.1.0 (the latest that has a native Linux version which
is no longer called linBUGS) installed on my Linux box and would like to
interact with it from R. I see posts on this from 2009, but these
predate the 3.1.0 version, so I'm wonering if there is anything new here.
Is BRugs the recommended approach from Linux? If so, the required
repository is not a default on my ins...

best quad core configuration?
...ifficult to install Intel MKL 10.0 BLAS and LAPACK libraries on
this machine? Would it be difficult to run both 32-bit and 64-bit versions
of R on this machine? The most computationally-intensive thing I will be
using the machine for is large MCMC simulations, probably using multiple
instances of LinBUGS. Any advice on configuring by machine for maximum
speed for these simulations?
Thanks,
Alan Swanson
