Changing the PATH from the command line
I am not very experienced with the MSDOS command line and even less so with wine. I am working on a realtime embedded C project and must, for the time being, use DOS command line tools. Since my work environment for decades has been Unix and Unix-like, I am trying to get the tool set to run under Wine on Hardy. I have solved several problems, but now I need to reset the path. I have a .bat

LSI MegaRAID system status
Dear list, I have inherited a CentOS-5 box with a LSI Sata Raid controller. It is configured as a RAID5 w/hot-standby. My concern is that I have no present means of determining the RAID status w/o downing the system and going into the bios to get status. If a disk has failed and brought the standby disk online, I would like to know about it, the day it happens by seeing it in syslog or getting

Lower case flag characters ??
I know the purpose of the "standard" Maildir flags "FSRT, ..." but some of the files have lower case flag characters as well. What is the meaning of these lower case flags? Google and the Dovecot-Wiki have failed me. Can some kind soul point me to a document, Please. Ray

Reading the index / log files
Dear Dovecot, I have a user who claims his mail is being lost. I can find the message marked as having been accepted for delivery in the maillog. I am hoping there is a tool which will let me read his IMAP transactions. We are delivering the messages with procmail and storing them as Maildir files. I read mail on this very same server and process about 500 mails per day. (Its the machine where

User friendly vacation service
Dear Dovecot list, I maintain a few small sendmail/dovecot/procmail based mail servers with system users only (no virtual domains or virtual users) on OpenBSD. I have been able to get a vacation system working with both with the native vacation program from OpenBSD and with procmail. I've been looking into dovecot sieve, but it doesn't appear to solve the bigger user complaint which is,

OT: DHCP address pool for specific MAC manufacturer
Dear CentOS, This is somewhat off-topic, but I do hope to implement this on a CentOS system, so here goes... I would like to be able to setup a dhcpd (or like) daemon to maintain two IP address pools. One for devices whose leading three octets of the client MAC address are specified and the other for all other clients. Both pools would be a defined range on a commmon /24 subnet. There a

Error when migrating from 3.0.20b to 3.0.21x
Hi, I migrated from samba 3.0.20b PDC to 3.0.21x using the rpm -Uvh and now I get these errors: [2006/01/04 19:48:08, 0] libsmb/credentials.c:creds_server_check(159) creds_server_check: credentials check failed. swat on red hat 7.2
Hi, I'm having a minor issue with swat on red hat 7.2. It won't let me make any changes to the samba server (adding shares, printers, and global definitions). The buttons to access these simply don't exist. I can view status, but I can't make any changes (not even restart the daemons). This works fine on my Debian system. The only real difference that I can think of is inetd

Dovecot development status v1.0
Timo, Regarding: http://www.dovecot.org/list/dovecot/2005-January/006144.html I would like an estimate of where you are on the path to a released (dovecot-1.0). I have read your statement regarding the -stable series and am wondering when we see the first feature complete -beta of v1.0? Thank for your hard efforts. I have been a happy customer for about a year. Ray

srvtools -- are these really useful?
I have installed 3.4.3 on a CentOS 5.4 box as a PDC with tdbsam for a backend. All seems to be working as expected in the Samba world. With the intention of getting ordinary maintenance off of my back, I downloaded and installed usrmgr and srvmgr in /root/bin. When I launch either of them from a WinXP workstation member while logged into the domain as root, the domain is not found. I can find

Samba 3.6.1 losing browser elections to WinXP
Hello Samba; I am aware this was a problem years ago... This week I turned up a brand new server to replace an embarrassingly old one. The problem has re-occurred. I expected this to be a problem long ago fixed. I have made the following registry edit to the offending XP machine and restarted Samba. I hope it sticks. I have two questions: 1) Have I missed something in the configuration?
