IPC connections and utmp
Hi,
I am running Samba version 2.2.5 with utmp turned on. I have a problem with
utmp and not displaying who is currently logged in. The basic idea is that
even though a user has logged off the computer (win2k pro) a connection to
IPC$ remains. It gives this.

UTMP problem and Samba
Hi,
I have had a few tiny problems now that i have samba with utmp. First of
all, I killed a few stray smb processes by using kill -9 pid. Well, this
messed up my 'who' and 'finger' readings.
Now I have this

possible to reload a model in script/console(irb)?
I often use script/console to interact with models.
It would be nice if script/console acted like WEBrick when it comes to
reloading classes that get updated. Anyway to do this?
Short of this, is there a way to tell script/console to reload a class
manually? My current solution is to exit and restart script/console.

mac: lib/gtk.pkg
Hello,
I'm sorry to just pop-up on the mailing list like this and ask a relatively non-R related question but I had no idea whom else to contact on this matter.
I'm working on a completely different port of an application to OS X which requires GTK and through Google'ing stumbled on a rather recent GTK installer for Mac at: http://r.research.att.com/
I was wondering if anyone here

Arabic Wiki
Hi guys,
I'm a MAJOR fan of CentOS and its proven itself a lifesaver many a time in
my professional and personal lives.
I was hoping to help out by contributing to the wiki by translating as much
as is possible of the wiki into Arabic. The thing is, the wiki is split
into several ISO based country codes and there are 22 countries where
Arabic is the national language, do I pick one in

Win2k, Samba 2.2.5 and LDAP

E-mail advice sought
I'm working on setting up an e-mail service.
I've got the e-mail servers working beautifully and am presently working
on re-writing the parts of Roundcube I don't like (e.g. it uses inline
JavaScript in a few places so CSP breaks it) but -
Is there any advice on characters to allow in usernames?
I know there are some wacky characters that are legal in e-mail

[ANNOUNCE] iproute2 2.6.22-070710
This is an update to iproute2 utilities including bug fixes and features
related to 2.6.22 kernel.
This package tries to be source compatible across releases.
The same source should build on older systems, but obviously the
newer kernel features won''t be available.
It can be downloaded from:

Progress report on git conversion
(Copied to Dave Hart at the NTP project, who's interested in the
code's progress for non-NUTty reasons. Dave, the background is that
I'm doing a trial conversion of the Network UPS Tools repo.)
First, repostreamer per se is dead. As it evolved it kept pulling
in more bits of code from reposurgeon until I said "screw it!" and
merged the repostreamer logic in as a reposurgeon

Sorry to ask, but where can I find icecast2 and vorbis?
<p>www.icecast.org only talks about icecast, not icecast2.
Where an one find the apps/tools for the latest-greatest?

Where does it come from?
Below every page in the browser i get:
"Loaded suite dispatch.cgi Started Finished in 0.000225 seconds. 0
tests, 0 assertions, 0 failures, 0 errors"
I''m not sure if i changed something or someone else did it, but now i
don''t know how to get rid of it. It has something to do with testing,
right? How to switch it off?

Rendering partials in ActionMailer?
Hello,
Is anyone out there rendering partials successfully in ActionMailer
templates?
I am having trouble with this, and wasn''t sure if it was my
configuration or something with a version of Rails I''m running.
We''ve got over 15 mailer templates, all working like a charm.
But we have a piece of shared code, that we''d really like to not have to

Thanks!
Hi all
(or at least those doing all the coding!)
just wanted to offer some (perhaps rarely spoken) thanks for your work.
I'd go mad with all those windows self extracting zips if not for wine
(amazingly useful for setting up a windows box since none seem to have
builtin zip support)
Of course, its good for _much_ more than that :-) but this use is a
lifesaver.

Occasional 'Permission denied'
I've been running rsync for years, and it's working great - offsite backups,
backups to a SAN, etc. It's a lifesaver.
Occasionally, I'm getting a very few files that give me something like the
following:
opendir(etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults/schemas/apps/panel/default_profiles):
Permission denied

SOLVED: Roaming profiles not updating XP
Amazing, this issue has been killing me for months. Every few weeks when I'm
in the office I put a few hours into it, no luck. Your resolution works as
advertised. Here's what I did
1. On a windows box, Logon as an administrator.
2. Start>Run>services.msc
3. Properties of "NVIDIA Display Driver Service" > Set to Manual
4. reboot
5. logon with roaming profile, make a

Samba and Win 2003 AD Question
High all,
First of all, thanks in advance for any response to this message. Groups
like this are a lifesaver.
I just took over an admin position for a small software company that
runs a Windows 2000 domain, in native mode, with a Samba 3 file server,
as a Domain Member, connecting to a password server which is the Windows
2000 Primary Domain Controller.
The domain controller runs a
