ext3 .journal location?
Forgive my novice question, but I am a new student of Linux working on presenting the ext3 journaling filesystem to my class. I seek any advice on how to visibly demonstrate (including a purposeful crash of a Linux box) the benefits of ext3 over ext2. I am not worthy to lick the bootstraps of this group, but I beg for any help! The problem I am having extends to even locating the .journal file

Dial own extension to get to voicemail.
I've gotten this Polycom 501 pretty much licked, but I need to know if
there's a way in a dialplan to say if someone dials their own extension
it goes straight to voicemail and asks them for their password. I
thought I saw an example of this on the web but I can't seem to find it.
Any advice appreciated!

Abiword as test of Wine
One problem with Wine has been that there were few
serious open source win32 applications out there to
test Wine with (ok, maybe my opinions are from 1997 :-)
In any case, we have some great open source Win32 applications
to test with. AbiWord is one.
I just tried installing AbiWord 0.9 under the latest
Codeweavers preview. The install worked -- but generated
about a billion warnings of the

wxruby website/wiki
Hi
I''ve given the wxruby wiki/website a quick lick of CSS, and added some
navigation to each page. Quite a lot of updated and re-organised content.

I''m no Picasso so suggestions to make it less ugly are welcome.
Even more, we''d like your content - it''s a wiki so thrives on your
contributions:

ssh-keygen can't recognize its own keys?
I'm trying to move from SSH1 to OpenSSH 2.9.9p2, under Solaris 8. Initial
setup and testing seems to work... including the generation of a new
RSA key. The key was created with "ssh-keygen -t rsa" and a passphrase;
nothing unusual.
I can SSH between machines, both running 2.9.9p2, and debug messages show
that this file is being correctly read (I think). It prompts me for the

Quotas and LDAP
Hi,
first of all, it is very nice that dovecot has quotas now! Thank you very
much.
Now, I want to use quotas with LDAP requests, but I am having the following
issues.
First, contrary to what is written in the Wiki about quota and LDAP ("#
quotaStorage must be in the format mentioned above, # For example:
dirsize:storage=10240"), it is possible to have an LDAP field with just a

Rights problem with Voicemail and non-root user - yeah I know, I thought I had it fixed...
Hi,
I thought I had this problem licked but there still is a rights problem
with ARI and Asterisk when using a non-root user (Following the wiki at
http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-pagehistory.php?page=Asterisk+non-root&diff2=25).
When I issue the following:
chmod --recursive u=rwX,g=rX,o= /var/spool/asterisk

Puppet agent problem on Ubuntu
I''m in the process of setting up puppet and experiencing some issues.
I''m running Ubuntu 11.04 desktop and server in two seperate VM''s. I''ve
installed puppet master (2.6.4) and puppet (2.6.4). The puppet master
and agent are happily working together.
I''m running the example in the book Pro Puppet. This is the first

Hi Oddsock,
Like Clement, I am sure Nullsoft is still "offering" AOL's bandwidth since I
think Nullsoft is not part of AOL anymore. About the new broadcasting
methods, is the multicast technology already available? I have heard only
few providers are equipped with multicast enabled routers. What about p2p
streaming, is it really reliable? When I see Peercast's statistics, only

Hello, from the Fedora side of Infrastructure. We have been trying to
get the 503 error rate down in the last six months and thought we had
licked it with recent changes. We had moved down the error rate to
80,000 bad requests per day out of 13.5 million total ones which
actually is a creep up from what we had last month. Most of the
requests every day happen in the time frame of XX:00 -> XX:15 of every
hour. Every proxy seems to give abou...

hanging on logout, can't background client
I've just recently switched from old ssh to OpenSSH 2. So far no major
problems, until now. I'm logging in from Linux to Solaris 8. Both are
running 2.9.9p2.
Under ssh-1.2.28 I would fire off several xterms, exit, and properly get the
"waiting for forwarded X11 connection" message, and then be able to type ~&
(as documented) to get back to the shell. The channel was kept

2 Asterisk servers (IAX) behind one firewall
Here's a good one for the group, I have 2 Ast servers behind a NAT

the 2 boxes behind register to the outside server. What I am wondering
is, would there be a problem if both servers behind the NAT were
listening on port 4569, I realized that the NAT'd port gets changed
however I wasn't sure if this would be an

Dell PowerConnect 2724 Switch and QoS for VOIP?
Has anyone had any experience with the Dell PowerConnect 2724 Gigabit
Switch and VoIP traffic? It seems to support Class of Service (CoS),
but not full Quality of Service (QoS).
Will CoS help prioritize VoIP traffic at all? I am setting up an
asterisk PBX for 22 users with very light traffic, but I don't want
to have the call start skipping just because someone is pulling a

More WineX Build Problems
I downloaded a newer copy of WineX from the CVS, using WinCVS (Pesky winmodem
doesn't work with Linux). I copied it to my linux partition & did a
./configure . To my surprise, an error was returned!
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
I'm confused. What am I doing wrong (Yes, I'm a pathetic newbie)? Anybody have
any ideas?
