unexpected behavior of `[<-` method for class unit.arithmetic
...as the naive replacement has destroyed the
structure of w2 instead of having assigned a value of 0 to the second
unit element.
I've also tried,
w = unit.c(unit(1, "in"), unit(2, "in"))
w2 = w + unit(1, "mm")
w2[[2]][2] <- 0
but this time, if the structure is licit, it's the result that's not
as I intended:
convertUnit(w2,"mm")
#[1] 26.4mm 1mm
My limited understanding is that an object of class unit.arithmetic is
waiting until the last moment to actually perform its operation,
stored in a tree-like structure. With this premise, I can't...

bs() function of the splines package
...rix on this vector.
This results in a design matrix with df+1 columns. The bs function then
_removes_ the first column of the matrix (resulting as expected in a
matrix with df columns).
I'm a bit confused, does anyone see a mathematical justification to
this manipulation?
In this case, is it licit tu use df- ord + 2 internal knots and remove
the last columns too?
Thanks a lot,
Laurent

RODBC
Firstly can I add my congradulations to the R core team on the release
of v1.0.0 and my thanks for all their hard work.
To the subject of this message: does anyone have a binary version of
Michael Lapsley's RODBC package built for win32 that they can
distribute? I have a solution where I can use Perl ODBC functions to
dump data to a text file for reading in to R, but I think the direct ODBC

OpenSuse 11 hvm domU: screen resolution up to 640x480
Hello,
I''ve recently installed a hvm domU opensuse 11 guest and I cannot set the screen
resolution higher then 640x480. This seems very strange to me, because
I don''t have
any problem to set higher resolution on a windows 7 domU, using the
following parameters
in the configuration file:
stdvga=1
videoram=16
What could the problem be? Is some video driver missing?
