Install wine, dependency problem, newbie woes
Downloaded wine from codeweavers and tried to install with Kpackage. "Needs libXv.so.1" Tried locating lib* with Google, but Google comes up with packages with different names. Maybe the lib I need is part of a larger library. So, where to find what I need, and then what to do with it (eg. just copy to /lib)?? Thanks in advance for clues, dave

Nothing loads in wine?
I thought that I would be able to use Wine to play TF2 in Fedora 11, so I used this guide to install steam: http://fedorasolved.org/gaming-solutions/installing-steam-using-wine Steam appeared to be working fine, so I downloaded some games (TF2 and CS:S), When they were done downloading, I tried to play one, and the "Preparing to launch TF2" box came up. So I waited for a few seconds and

I'm having trouble installing wine
Hi, I downloaded wine-20010429-1 I'm using Linux Mandrake 8.0 When I try to install wine, rpminst gives me this message: libXv.so.1 <>=S is needed by wine-20010429-1 libXxf86dga.so.1 <>=S is needed by wine-20010429-1 OK... How do I find and install these components. I'm kind of new to this so I'm pretty much lost. All I know is that it is obviously part of X11. Can somebody help? Thanks in advance....

[Bug 16375] New: Xv frame rate > refresh rate causes 100% CPU usage
...iver uses a different design, but from what I can tell the throttling point is where it allocates FIFO space for the Xv image. Related to this issue is the fact that you can get incorrect frame orders on screen (the output tends to flicker a bit). This is an inherent effect of the racy design of libXv (and possibly the Xv protocol itself). When using XvShmPutImage(), there is no notifier that the server has had time to process the image. If it takes to long, your player will start overwriting the buffer with the next frame. With double buffring players (like mplayer), this will in most cases hav...
