Module error after Samba update - Resolved?
Probably a ld issue. It might have not run in the rpm's post script. Do a ldd
/usr/lib64/samba/libsmbregistry-samba4.so /usr/lib64/samba/vfs/acl_xattr.so and check if
either are reporting missing dependencies.

Module error after Samba update
I've just done a yum update and a reboot on one of our CentOS 7 DCs,
which has taken Samba from sernet-samba-4.5.1-6 to
sernet-samba-4.5.5-13. I now notice that the Samba log files contain
errors since the update.
The error message is:
"../lib/util/modules.c:48(load_module) Error loading module
'/usr/lib64/samba/vfs/acl_xattr.so':
/usr/lib64/samba/libsmbregistry-samba4.so:

Sernet Samba 4.2.9 sometimes missing acl_xattr
dear list,
we have a little problem with our samba server. it fails to load
acl_xattr.so out of nothing and affects new connections as they cannot
be established.
samba throws:

Module error after Samba update - Resolved?
Hi Vinicius,
I've run the command and it did not report any missing dependencies.
I've been checking the logs, both on that DC and on clients that
authenticated against it and can see no problems. I'm happy to leave it
that. Thanks.
regards,
John

Hi.
I tried to migrate my storage(smb) server to more newer version, but faced
with 'segfaults", after(in progress) client authenticating, when samba
tries to start a new smbd instance (as i understand). I saw client
authentication success, which interrupts in following places:

Hi, Bartlett
I decided to cut some subsystem by myself,
So I spent several days to study the SAMBA 4 WAF build system and now know the base steps of build.
but which subsystem can be removed for snmd/nmbd/smbpasswd ?
followings are the full dependencies of these 3 binary
ldd bin/smbpasswd

Crash (talloc error) after failed chdir
Hello,
This is a problem with both samba 4.3.3 and 4.3.4.
I have a crash that seems triggered after a NT_STATUS_DENIED on a chdir
operation. After that the server begins to shutdown itself with the
message "Server exit (failed to receive smb request)", to close all the
connections and when closing it crashes due a talloc error.
I cannot reproduce myself this error and it occurs

Module error after Samba update - Resolved?
This is really weird. The error below occurred for about 10 minutes
after the post-update reboot and then went away. As far as I've been
able to test, the DC in question is functioning normally now.

John

Samba4 and discrepancies in the Wiki documentation
Hi all,
I am in the process of testing Samba4 Alpha (latest git pull as of 1
Aug 2011, reports itself as Alfpha17) as an additional DC in our
network but ran into a few problems. First of all I am using this
guide http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO#Samba4_HOWTO to
install it and on step 4 I followed the link to this guide

SAMBA VFS module for GlusterFS crashes
Hello,
I'm trying to set up a SAMBA server serving a GlusterFS volume.
Everything works fine if I locally mount the GlusterFS volume (`mount
-t glusterfs ...`) and then serve the mounted FS through SAMBA, but
the performance is slower by a 2x/3x compared to a SAMBA server with a
local ext4 filesystem.
I gather that SAMBA vfs_glusterfs module can give better
performance. However, as soon as I

SAMBA VFS module for GlusterFS crashes
Keep in mind a local disk is 3,6,12 Gbps but a network connection is typically 1Gbps. A local disk quad in raid 10 will outperform a 10G ethernet (especially using SAS drives).
