Using icecast2 with MP3 problems
I've downloaded and compiled icecast from cvs and the ices-0.2.3 from
the download area for MP3 support.. (I'd use ogg, except I have 1000's
of mp3. I'll re-rip them, but not today) 8)
Is there a particular version of the icecast2 server that works w/ the
ices-0.2.3 I'm using? I'm having difficulty getting the two to
communicate.

CVS changes
To all CVS users of ices 0.x:
I've just merged the ices-libshout_2 branch onto HEAD. Anyone using that branch
should switch back to HEAD to continue to get the latest updates.
This also means you now need the latest version of libshout2 from CVS in order
to build ices from CVS.

Libshout compiles fine, but ices wont configure correctly. It wouldn't
find shout_new in libshout, lame_encode_flush_nogap in mp3lame
nor ov_open in libvorbisfile.. (nor is libtool found, but I copied it
from libshout.)
But yet:

1.3. Brendan Cully
In addition to making some improvements to the ices and libshout build
systems, Brendan has merged the ices-libshout_2 of ices 0.x into
mainline CVS. Anyone that is using the combination of ices 0.x and
libshout 2 should switch to mainline with cvs update -A to get future
updates, as the branch will no longer be maintained.

ices config problems
...* Even with ices -v
I do not see which config file is opened so I even do not know
whether I'm editing the right file
strace shows that the right file is opened
*** with google I found a completly different config file format
which should be at:
http://svn.xiph.org/icecast/branches/ices0/ices-libshout_2/doc/icesmanual.html
the request for that file never ends......
but there is google's cache! phew!
with this *OTHER* format containig the header:
