Dovecot SASL: SCRAM-SHA-1 Authentication Fails
Dear all,
I use Dovecot SASL (2.1.15) on Ubuntu 12.04 for IMAP authentication and
Postfix SASL authentication. I tried to setup SCRAM-SHA-1 as SASL
mechanism. This works well on Dovecot's client side towards my OpenLDAP
server (with libsasl-2), but fails on the server side (IMAP and SMTP).
In the following, there's an extract from Dovecot's log, when using mutt
as SMTP client:

dovecot: auth: Debug: client in:

the start.
No log is generated on server side
Where smbd is started, I can't find any open port on 139 or 145

[PATCH] Interop problem with Cyrus SASL and GSSAPI
...et it
twice.]
I have been trying to get a Postfix mail server using Dovecot SASL to
accept GSSAPI AUTH from another Postfix server using Cyrus SASL, and I
believe I have found a couple of bugs in Dovecot's GSSAPI
implementation.
The first problem is that, because of the way the client invokes
libsasl, it sends a GSSAPI request which does not ask for mutual
authentication. This means that on the server gss_accept_sec_context
returns GSS_S_COMPLETE with a zero-length output token. Dovecot
currently sends this to the client as a zero-length continuation
response, but this is incorrect according to...

security
I have a user who was having problem accessing samba. So I suggested him to try
to login from other system to see if it's problem with his pc or his account.
Then he found that when he used other person's PC, it didn't ask for password at
all and gave full access to his account! The two person's accounts are totally
different. Any idea? Thanks.

A mass O trouble with solaris 10 and Samba+ADS
...with ./configure
-prefix=/usr/local/opt/openldap-2.3.27 -with-shared=yes
I have yet to find out why this works with shared libraries but not with
static ones (which is what I want).
The failure to configure with static libraries seems to be because
Openldap's configure picks up the presence of libsasl on Solaris 10 (not
present on solaris 9) and uses code found in it. The compile line
invoked by Samba's configure does not include -lsasl and hence it fails
to compile the program and give the above misleading error.
Setting
LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/opt/openldap-2.3.27/lib -lsasl"

maildirmake, shared folders
Does dovecot support shared folders, maildir style?
I've set it up, using the maildirmake from debian maildrop to create folders. I have a number of as-yet unresolved issues, so I haven't been able to test with many clients. It's interesting that dovecot manages to present folders as siblings (rather than children) of INBOX. But mutt, at least, doesn't seem to see the shared

I always sue -Syu to install packages, and I already
installed/reinstalled some packages today.
Now one thing comes to my mind : lots of pacman stuff are NOT in the usal place.
