Anonymous rsync + chroot + LDAP
.... not overriding the default) on a Fedora Core 2 system using flat files for authentication, which I recently upgraded to Fedora Core 3 using LDAP for authentication, and found that the anonymous rsync server wouldn't start up. The problem when away if I turned off chroot, or if I put a copy of libnss_ldap.so.2 into ${path}/lib/libnss_ldap.so.2. Is that the expected behavior, or should a chrooted anon-rsync work on an LDAP-using system out of the box? -Josh (jbs@cacr.caltech.edu)

Re: Trusting and trusted domain (home mapping) problem
Hi Igor, I got stuck now. I did my best. I got stuck at the winbind which I suspected is the reason why the domainA_computer cannot map the domain_B user's home directory. 1. What are the settings of your winbind? 2. Do you use only "winbind" in your libnss_ldap or use "ldap" as well? 3. My winbind works with :- (For both sides) wbinfo -t wbinfo -p wbinfo -u wbinfo -g getent passwd (For DomainA) "getent group" shows all the local groups and also the groups shown in "wbinfo -g" (For DomainB) "getent group" shows all...

INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in pid 8928 (3.0.23c)
Hello! It seems my struggle with Samba isn't quite over. My latest problem is exactly what you see above, followed by an attempt to core dump. This occurs upon authentication to the system. My system is part of a W2K3 domain. I looked at the Samba HOWTO, but apparently I have a system (FC5), that doesn't allow core dumps when the PID changes, since no core dumps are being created.

...ox will converted as a file server. The confusion in smb.conf is possibly because of the above. We can remove the connection to LDAP via smb.conf if that helps? samba 2 smbpasswd + ldap - not binding properly
...ind: v3 bind: "cn=nss,dc=test,dc=net" to "cn=nss,dc=test,dc=net" My smb.conf looks like this: ldap admin dn = cn=manager,dc=test,dc=net ldap server = ldap.test.net ldap suffix = ou=People,dc=test,dc=net So is smbpasswd ignoring it? Just a note cn=nss comes from my libnss_ldap.conf so it's possible what I'm really seeing is the bind for nss lookup of the the passwd entry and smbpasswd isn't attempting to bind at all.. I've been scanning the samba list for days and haven't seen any solutions, so if someone could help me out I would appreciate it....
