Re: mySQL Not working with rails app
...olved, steps included below for Debian users who are
having the same problem:
The root of the problem when I went off the reservation and used a
testing package for mySQL in my Sarge distro (needed 5.0.x instead of
the Sarge 4.0.x). This caused the gem install mysql to error.
When I upgraded, libmysqlclient12 remained. So I removed that:
# apt-get remove libmysqlclient12
Also I removed all ancillary ruby packages since I did a manual
compile/install. There were probably a few conflicts in the list of
installed packages, so I decided to clean things up.
# dpkg -l | grep ruby
# apt-get remove libruby...

Compiling asterisk-addons-1.6.0 under Debian 2.6.18?
Is there some magic to compiling asterisk-addons-1.6.0 under Debian 2.6.18
and mysql 5.0? I am unable to get configure to recognize the existance of
mysqlclient. Imparticular, when it gets to:
checking for mysql_init in -lmysqlclient... it returns "no".
For the past several releases, I've had to hack or otherwise coerce this
to work, but this time, no amount of fiddling with

Error 127 / dovecot-auth problem?
Hello everybody!
I try now since 2 days to get Dovecot working. First i tried it with apt-get
install dovecot-imap dovecot-pop3 (Debian Sarge), but couldn't start it,
syslog told:

I am running rc15 from backports on Debian stable.
dovecot (1.0.rc15-1~bpo1) sarge-backports; urgency=low
* Rebuilt for sarge.
* Only changes needed were build dependency on libpq-dev changed back to
postgresql-dev, libmysqlclient15-dev changed back to libmysqlclient12-dev,
kernel-headers versioned build-dependency removed and debhelper version
relaxed to 4.
