Comparison of means in survey package
Dear list colleagues, I'm trying to come up with a test question for undergraduates to illustrate comparison of means from a complex survey design. The data for the example looks roughly like this: mytest<-data.frame(harper=rnorm(500, mean=60, sd=1), party=sample(c("BQ", "NDP", "Conservative", "Liberal", "None", NA), size=500,

Liberation Fonts
Here's a project aiming to produce fonts with the same metrics as Microsoft's. Released under both open source and commercial licenses. Great font "Liberation" news... http://www.press.redhat.com/2007/05/09/liberation-fonts/ https://www.redhat.com/promo/fonts/ -Joe Baker

rhel source to updates?
I noticed on the rhel errata page: http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHEA-2008-0001.html that they have made a configuration change to fontconfig for the liberation fonts. I have the liberation fonts installed via rebuild of fedora 8 src.rpm - including a fontconfig file. I'm guessing the update will come through CentOS at some point and I'm trying to make sure there isn't a file

New winetricks 20080402: new verbs dotnet20, win2k, flash, msls31; updated mono, liberation
Big news: as of today or so, wine doesn't need any patches to install the .net 2.0 runtime or run trivial .net 2.0 apps, so I've added a dotnet20 verb. No more futzing with recipes to try out simple .net 2 apps, huzzah! There are lots of other little changes, too: 20080402 r21 Added dotnet20, removed one kludge from dotnet11, added win2k verb, plus shorthand for winver=foo r20

group means of multi-way table?
hello, can someone tell me how to generate the means for a data frame that looks like this? My data frame has many more variables, but I won't bother you with those; these are the one's that I'm interested in. Needless to say, z is the variable in which I'm interested. I'd like to find out the mean score of z for NDP managers, Conservative managers and Liberal managers

Freedom-friendly video hardware community
...l world, it would be a community for general hardware ideas, but I think we can take advantage of the urgent need for a free /video/ device that normal users can use as a camcorder, so we can let it be video/consumer-related, at least initially. cluster analysis: mean values for each variable and cluster
Hi all! I'm new to R and don't know many about it. Because it is free, I managed to learn it a little bit. Here is my problem: I did a cluster analysis on 30 observations and 16 variables (monde, figaro, liberation, etc.). Here is the .txt data file:

Package group "X Window System" has disappeared
Hi, Until last week, I could install a CentOS 7 based desktop using the following approach: 1. Install minimal system. 2. yum groupinstall "X Window System" 3. yum install gdm gnome-classic-session gnome-terminal liberation-fonts 4. Install applications as needed. This morning, the package group "X Window System" seems to have disappeared. This is embarrassing. What

-u updating too liberally
Hey ho. I apologize for what must be a stupid question, but I couldn't find any relevant posts in the archives. I want a daily backup of my home directory to another machine. Because I never delete any file, no matter how bloody useless, my home directory is inordinately large. So, it is important that I only back up those files that really need to be backed up. Here is the command I have

Suggestions/Pointers on where to begin my search for a solution?
Hi- I''m working in the IT department of a small liberal arts university-- we''re getting *massacred* by P2P traffic. Informal testing/probing indicates that about 60% of our traffic from the dorms was P2P-- we''ve taken the initial step of hardlimiting the dorms to no more than 40% of outgoing university bandwidth. Also, we''ve blocked the

[LLVMdev] Auto-configuration of llvm/projects directory
Just a note about the change in auto-configuration of the llvm/projects directory. Previously, if we found any subdirectories of llvm/projects containing a configure script, it would be automatically configured by the llvm configure script. While this was handy, the necessary specification in the autoconf input file (configure.ac) used a deprecated feature of autoconf. This was replaced
