How to have ZFS root with /usr on a separate datapool
...timf/zfs-actual-root-install.sh This is my errata for Tim Foster''s zfs root install script: 1/ Correct mode for /tmp should be 1777. 2/ The zfs boot install should allow you to have /usr on a separate zpool: a/ We need to create /zfsroot/usr/lib in the root partition and copy /usr/lib/libdiskmgt.so* to it. b/ During boot up, solaris will mount an optimized libc on top of /lib/libc.so.1, and Tim''s script fails to copy it correctly. Init will be killed in a loop if the C library is absent. In the part of the script which populates the devices and /dev directories,...

ZFS Boot Won''t work with a straight or mirror zfsroot
Using build 70, I followed the zfsboot instructions at http:// www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/boot/zfsboot-manual/ to the letter. I tried first with a mirror zfsroot, when I try to boot to zfsboot the screen is flooded with "init(1M) exited on fatal signal 9" Than I tried with a simple zfs pool (not mirrored) and it just reboots right away. If I try to setup grub

"no pool_props" for OpenSolaris 2009.06 with old SPARC hardware
Hi, yesterday evening I tried to upgrade my Ultra 60 to 2009.06 from SXCE snv_98. I can''t use AI Installer because OpenPROM is version 3.27. So I built IPS from source, then created a zpool on a spare drive and installed OS 2006.06 on it To make the disk bootable I used: installboot -F zfs /usr/platform/`uname -i`/lib/fs/zfs/bootblk /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0s0 using the executable from my new

Proposal: ZFS Hot Spare support

Determining device usage A hot spare is considered ''in use'' for the purpose of libdiskmgt and zpool(1M) if it is labelled as a spare and is currently in one or more pool''s list of active spares. If a spare is part of an exported pool, it is not considered in use, due largely to the fact that distinguishing this case from a recently destroyed pool is difficult and not solvable...
