so-called snprintf() in db-1.85.4
...quot; function which breaks down to a common
sprintf, ignoring the size parameter. Obviously, this was
thought to be a terribly bad work-around for C libraries which
don''t contain an snprintf routine of their own. The
consequences of this bug are obvious: Any program which is
linked with libdb.so.1.85.4 and relies on snprintf(3) to do
it''s bounds checking doesn''t have any bounds checking at all.
Note that recent linux C libraries contain an snprintf(3)
function of their own which does it''s job properly. Thus, the
fix is to simply remove snprintf.o from libdb....

Problem linking with libdb
Hello,
I am trying to compile iproute2 but something does not work when
linking with libdb.
This is what I am using:
- iproute2-ss050607
- linux 2.4.22
- make 3.79.1
- gcc 2.95.3
- ld 2.15
When I type make, it ends somewhere in ./misc with the following error
message:
make output starts here:

Passing Multiple Variable Into SQLDF Statement as parameters of function
...riables into my sqldf statements? In particular, the sqldf is supposed to
read the date parameter as a character string (its the only way I could get
it to work).
This is my code so far:
> StartDate='2010-06-15'
> EndDate='2010-06-22'
> Example=paste("select * from LibDB where Date_Entered
> =",as.character(StartDate))
> sqldf(Example,verbose=TRUE)
This passes the StartDate in correctly, but in a form where my particular
query won't pick up the date in the database. In reality, I want it to act
as the following:
> Example=paste("select * fr...

Will upgrade from from db4 to libdb break anything?
Hello,
I just have a minor question. (Using Fedora 16)
My current dovecot (2.2.10) was compiled with db4 (4.8.30).
I am thinking of recompiling same dovecot (2.2.10) with
libdb (5.2.36).
I will be trying on live server so just wanted to know if
this will this break any indexing or anything else?
(Recompiling for Heartbleed, so might as well switch db version)
AM.

[PATCH v2 0/3] library: improve handling of external tools
...quot;failed to execute" error
The chosen approach is to build a process-wide cache in the libguestfs
library of paths of tools searched, even in case they are not available:
this way it is easier to just skip something at runtime if a program is
not there. The patch series applies it for the libdb tools, and for
the tools used to extract icons from guests.
Thanks,
Pino Toscano (3):
lib: add internal cache for external application
lib: improve libdb tools handling at runtime (RHBZ#1409024)
inspect: make netpbm and icoutils really optional runtime tools

Re: [virt-v2v] no installed kernel packages were found Converting CentOS OVA to KVM
...o kernel packages are found in the guest, and indeed
I can see in the log:
libguestfs: trace: v2v: inspect_list_applications2 "/dev/vg0/lv-root"
libguestfs: trace: v2v: inspect_list_applications2 = <struct guestfs_application2_list(0)>
Since it's a own build, most probably libdb-utils was not installed
when configure was run, and thus libguestfs did not download and
inspect the content of the RPM DB in the guest.
See also http://libguestfs.org/guestfs-building.1.html for the list of
mandatory, and optional build & runtime dependencies.

Unknown dict module: db with expire plugin
Hello.
I upgraded my dovecot to 1.1. I use the FreeBSD port.
However, I can't use the expire plugin. See the error:
Unknown dict module: db
expire plugin: dict_init() failed
I see on the mailing list another mail like this problem. And the
problem is the imap library is not linked to libdb.
Is there a solution?
Have I to contact the FreeBSD maintainer to link the binary to the
library?
Thanks for your advices.
Regards,

Unknown dict module: db
Using dovecot-1.1beta1 I get "Unknown dict module: db"
when starting up dovecot. In dovecot.conf I've got the
"expire_dict = db:/var/lib/dovecot/expire.db" statement
in the plugin{} section. Aparently required when the
"expire" plugin is enabled. dovecot is built with
"--with-db" and db-devel is present at compile time.
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers

db_dump185.c missing if Asterisk 1.4 source file
Hi,
In http://downloads.digium.com/pub/asterisk/releases/asterisk-1.4.22.tar.gz,
you can read db_dump185 among main/astdb/Makefile targets, though this
target is commented out from all target :

include $(ASTTOPDIR)/Makefile.rules
all: $(LIBDB) #$(LIBDBSO) $(PROG)
