OpenSSH-3.0.2p1 and Linux libc5
Hi, all. I'm trying to compile OpenSSH-3.0.2p1 on a Linux libc5 system, and it fails when compiling packet.c with the following: gcc -g -O2 -Wall -Wpointer-arith -Wno-uninitialized -I. -I. -DETCDIR=\"/etc/ssh\" -D_PATH_SSH_PROGRAM=\"/usr/bin/ssh\" -D_PATH_SSH_ASKPASS_DEFAULT=\"/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass\" -D_PATH_SFTP_SERVER=\&quot...

help for tftp-hpa with libc5
I want to compile tftp-hpa on libc5 because we have many systems still using this library. There were some constants missing that i copied from glibc-2.1 headers, and now I'm left with this and I don't know what to do since all I can do is copy/paste, not touch real code :-) === gcc -O2 -m486 -fno-strength-reduce -D_XPG4_2...

Old (really old) programs under CentOS.
Ok, I have a small dilemma, and I'm hoping someone here has had to do this before. I have at a site (not PARI) a server running some mission critical software that was written in 1997 for libc5, under AOLserver 2.3.? No, source code is not available for that version of AOLserver (it wasn't open-sourced until version 3.0, and the API changed rather dramatically at that point), not that it would help any, as gcc has undergone so many changes since RH5 that a recompile would be very diff...

[Bug 336] ssh does not compile on Linux with libc5 and 2.0 kernel
...t.cgi?id=344&action=view) Add CMSG_DATA and CMSG_FIRSTHDR macros to monitor_fdpass.h It seems that the kernel capabilities are there it's just the macros are missing. How about stealing the macros from OpenBSD rather the messing with configure? Then privsep might even work on those Linux/libc5 boxes. Anyone care to test this? I don't have an old enough Linux... ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

Odd issue with 7.7.1908 updated with qemu-kvm-ev
So, I have a client that has an internal use application that needs an ancient version of libc5.? That's not a typo; libc5.? Before the server that ran it died about a year and a half ago (said server was an AMD K6-2/450 with a 6GB Western Digital Caviar drive that had been spinning nearly continuously for almost 20 years!) it was running on Red Hat Linux 5.2.? The last version of Cen...

Need a bit of 'archeocomputing' help on CentOS 7.
I have an application with is binary-only, does its job well, and is only available for either libc5 (!) or early early glibc2.0 (!!). It has been running on a Red Hat Linux 5.2 (NOT RHEL; RHL) server for a really long time, and it honestly does its job and it's not easily replaced by an open-source solution at the moment. So, I need to do one of the following things: 1.) Run Red Hat Linux...

Linux libc5 ''bug'' in mkstemp().
Pardon me if this is already known -- Theo, at least, had never heard of a Unix doing this. mkstemp() under Linux claims to conform to BSD4.3, but BSDs (FreeBSD and OpenBSD, at least) seem to have a slightly different behavior. Under Linux, new files are created with mode 0666, while under BSDs new files are created with mode 0600. A user need only set his umask to 0 and he will be able to

summary of replies to [strange stuff in 'last' command]
...?' Is this a security issue or sen1> more likely just growing pains for utmp and glibc? There is no major security problem that I am aware of, however you could consider incorrect wtmp logging a security problem. ****************** From: Dave Cinege <dcinege@psychosis.com> libc6 and libc5 use different utmp formats. If you run a libc6 (libc5) system and use libc5 (libc6) apps that touch utmp or wtmp it will cause corruption. OTOH Debian 2.0's libc5 is patched with a wrapper function for the new utmp format. You could get a hold if that if you are unable to upgrade the offending...

IceCast 1.3.11: Segmentation Violation in Linux

It's too old and too busted to make it worth it. If the problem turns out to be easy to fix, we'll fix it. If it looks like a libc5 bug, you're out of luck. libc5 has _many_ thread problems. So do some old libc6's. Why oh Why are you using libc5 anyway? Do you have some box...

IceCast 1.3.11: Segmentation Violation in Linux
Hello all, When I try to run IceCast 1.3.11, it starts up okay, but crashes with Segmentation Violation as soon as a client tries to connect to it. I am suspecting that there is a race condition, because when I try to strace icecast, it works fine. I am a novice level coder, so I dont know how else I can help you. :-) This is a problem I had with 1.3.10, but I downloaded 1.3.11 to see if you
