avoiding (another) error

So obvisouly R does what I would like it to do. How can I get it to do it
without the error? The problem is that I need to do this within a
function.

Error messages
...searched in the CRAN site) where I find information on what the
error means? It seems to tell me pretty exactly where the problem lies
(foreign function call arg6) but I don't understand it.

the same as with 1:3, the only difference being that the scale runs from 0
to 1 (with splits at 0.25 and 0.75).
Can I influence this behaviour and how?

idea for (further) debugging ace ()?
...example that has the same effect so I could
send it to the list but was not successful until now, especially as I do
not really have any idea in what direction to search.

.Rdata questions
...(which is, admittedly, pretty stupid). Are there ways to get
emacs to need a confirmation if one is trying to kill an active buffer
(well, actually, it needs one normally, doesn't it)?

a small correction: in my loess example there is the c missing in
x <- c (...); and, of course, before loess can be called it is necessary
to load the package "modreg".

ace () - again
Dear all,
I am still trying to find out what goes wrong when I use ace (I get an
'NAs in foreign fuction call (arg3)' but when I go through it with debug
there seem no data to be missing).
I had some errors (see at end of message) while installing 'acepack'. Do
you think it is possible that these lead to the fact, that simple problems
