state of lfarkas KVM repository + Centos KVM wiki
...://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=74275&topic_id=19726
the guest is really running stable for one week now.
Maybe someone could have a look at udev why it always sets permission
for /dev/net/tun wrong and update the wiki?
But my actual question is, what's the state of lfarkas repository?
Can it be trusted? Sadly there is no frontpage on http://www.lfarkas.org/
Thx

lfarkas Repository + KVM on centos Wiki
Dear all,
I've succesfully installed a F10 x86_64 KVM guest on C5 x86_64 with the
help of the wiki - running for 7 days now. :)
Two questions;
What's the state of the lfarkas's repository - can it be trusted - I
guess yes but google did not help much.
It's only mentioned in the kvm howto - not under the third party repos.
And sadly http://www.lfarkas.org/ is empty.
Second q. I still have problems with the tun device for users as
mentioned here:

Windows Server 2008 with the KVM --no-acpi option
KVM version 84
Host OS: Centos version: 2.6.18-92.el5
Guest OS: Windows Server 2008 Web
Processor: Intel Xeon L5420 Quad-Core
I have installed kvm version 84 from .rpm's on lfarkas.org. Without the
--no-acpi option, Windows 2008 boots fine. With the --no-acpi option,
the VM displays the following:
Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start...
Status 0xc0000225
Info: Windows failed to load because the firmware (BIOS) is not ACPI
compatible

libvirtd and kvm from lfarkas repo
Hi All,
Can I use virt-manager from a Fedora 11 box to manage Qemu/KVM VMs, or
is this crazy (re: incompatible)?
Regards,
Ranbir

don't use centos 7 as a developer workstation
Hi,
May be it's not clear to everyone.. so this's just a quick notice to
everyone.
Don't use CentOS 7 as a developer workstation since currently there is
not included any developer IDE. As eclipse was pulled out from the main
distro and put into Red Hat Developer Toolset (which is imho a good idea
not to use a 7 years old IDE). But Red Hat Developer Toolset is still
not supported on

questions
...othly?
or we have to convert the maildirs somehow?
- I've got a few plan in my mind it it possible to do it with dovecot
now or in the near future (if yes what is the estimated time)?:
- authenticate from LDAP, the best would be trough PAM?
- use the same user with different domain. eg: lfarkas at bnap.hu,
lfarkas at bppiac.hu with the same imap server? handle more domains.
- use imaps and use Digest-MD5 and/or CRAM-MD5?
- put a database backend under imap and store the mails in a database.
- use WITHOUT local users? it's very important! most case a user never
ever log...

maraidb for el6
...c.rpm
- fedora's mariadb-5.5.35-4.fc21.src.rpm
- rhel6's scl's mariadb55-mariadb-5.5.35-1.1.el6.src.rpm
the problem doesn't seems to complicated but after a few hours i hope we
created a good rpm which can update the previous el6's mysql packages.
the packages are here:
http://lfarkas.org/linux/packages/redhat/6/mariadb/
regards.

network raid file system/server
hi,
we've a few 10-20 server in a lan each has 4-8 hdd. we'd like to create
one big file server on these server hard disks and we'd like to create
it in a redundant way ie:
- if one (or more) of the hdd or server fails the whole filesystem still
usable and consistent.
- any server in this farm can see the same storage/filesystem.
it's someting a big network raid5-6... storage where

dovecot.spec
hi,
I'm just recoginze that dovecot contains an rpm spec file. unfortunately
it's not too useful since an
rpm -ta dovecot-.x.y.tar.gz
can't be used since just the dovecot.spec.in is in the tarbar and not
the actual spec file (which is in this from not useful in the above
form). anyway here is my patch to the spec.in.

kvm-69
hi guys,
I came across Gerd Hoffmann's repo at
http://kraxel.fedorapeople.org/el5/ which seems to have a much newer KVM
for EL5 - has anyone managed to get that working ? Even trying with
the kver he used ( 2.6.18-53.el5 ) does not seem to satisfy all required
symbols.

http://www.lfarkas.org/linux/packages/centos/5/x86_64/virt/
http://www.lfarkas.org/linux/packages/centos/5/i386/virt/
the changes i follow fedora package naming so there is no kvm packages

and qemu package to the stable branch (although the old kv...
