CentOS on new Thinkpads
I've had success on "older" model Lenovos.....(T-410 / T-420 / T-430) but anything beyond those seems to have some issue or another. I was even able to swap the standard drive to an SD (250GB) on a T-430 and it's running g like a champ. A lot of the newer stuff is OK as long as you don't have any boutique drivers for video network...

CentOS on new Thinkpads
Is anyone running CentOS on a newish Thinkpad? I have been using Linux as my primary workstation since about 97 and it seems like using Linux as a desktop has slipped over the years. After the Gnome desktop dumb-down, I have been nursing CentOS 6.8 on a 5 yo Toshiba. So I was hoping that someone has some recent real-world experience with new Thinkpads. So is anyone running a new Thinkpad? What

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Don't flame me, but I really recommend using Ubuntu on laptops. If you really want CentOS, you should go with version 7. Many new laptops won't work well with that either though. CentOS 6 only works well these days on older hardware or on virtual machines. On Apr 27, 2016 7:27 PM, "Brian Bernard" <brian.brianbernard at gmail.com> wrote: Hi all, I'm looking at buying

Lenovo M900 with CentOS 7 strangeness
Hello, I would like to install CentOS 7.3 on my new Lenovo M900 machine. I am using the official 1 DVD installer. The installation process was fine without any error but after reboot the USB keyboard and the USB mouse did not work. Therefore I was not able to type anything or pass the first boot screen. Only the power button is working. Any idea why? I believe the installation media is using the

I''ve been trying to fix this for the last four-five days. I''m stumped ! I tried re-installing everything

Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Oh, I wouldn't flame you. Hmm, I didn't think of using a virtual machine. The Lenovo has a NVidia 960MX, so I wonder if it would fully work under a virtual machine. The reason why I ask is that I do systems adminstration with meteorological software that requires OpenGL 2.0 and at least 2GB of video ram. Thank you for your reply, Mike. Any CentOS 6 Issues on Lenovo Y700?
Hi all, I'm looking at buying a Lenovo Y700 Notebook, and wondering if it would work with CentOS 6. Or if anyone has experience with using it under CentOS 6. I assume that the WiFi could be an issue as it uses an Intel 8260 card. I want to make the correct decision. Thank you, Brian Bernard

At least Sun-Oracle Virtual Box doesn't. Somebody may

Xen Newbie on a Lenovo U160
I want to buy a Lenovo U160 laptop, Core-i7, 16gb DDR3, 500gb HD What I am trying to accomplish is to use a Hypervisor that boots up and then have a Windows, Linus and OS X VM that also gets started up and I can interact between them while still on the same laptop. I have a fair number of reasons for wanting this between software development for all of these platforms to pen-testing, etc. Can

CentOS on Lenovo G50-30?
I just got a Lenovo G50-30 and tried loading the CentOS 7 LiveCD on it. It stops on a gray screen with a flashing cursor. I tried waiting for a while and pressing keys, but nothing seemed to happen. I then tried the CentOS 6.5 LiveCD (I couldn't find a LiveCD for 6.6) and it worked just fine. I would like to be able to use CentOS 7, so is there any way for me to get access to the logs or any
