PXELINUX based kickstart query (probably OT)
Hi all
I'm guessing this is a little off topic but here goes...
We use PXELINUX and kickstart to automate our RHEL deployments and
updates. Recently we started using PXELINUX/memdisk and an MS-DOS image
to update the workstation BIOS'es. After selecting <F12> (network boot)
and picking the update BIOS option, the BIOS is flashed, BIOS
configuration made standard and then the

Installing SYSLINUX in PBR, not MBR?
...Are there any gotchas to installing SYSLINUX in the PBR of a
partition, and not the MBR of the overall hard drive?
The reason I want to do this, is to take my "PXE-on-a-disk" project, and
install it simply into one very small (1MB or so) FAT16 partition.
ftp://ftp.scyld.com/private/jlehan/pxe-on-a-disk.html
This partition would be placed near the very beginning of the drive.
The goal is to have a way of choosing to boot PXE or the fully-installed
operating system, on a "lights-out" installation, without having to
physically intervene and change the computer's BIOS...

PXE-on-a-disk Intel EM64T reboot
Hello! I have been successful using SYSLINUX and Etherboot to create a
generic "PXE-on-a-disk" package, a floppy image and CD image that
support as many Ethernet cards as possible.
These have support for all of Etherboot's modules that support real PCI
cards: about 25-or-so drivers and 250-or-so cards. I've built Etherboot
ZLILO images, one for each driver, set up to boot

Interaction of Shorewall and Shorewall6 with a Teredo relay?
I looked online for documentation about this, but couldn''t find it.
Is anybody else running a Teredo relay, on a firewall that has both
Shorewall and Shorewall6 installed?
I''m running IPv6 at home (thanks to a Hurricane Electric tunnel).
I''m having trouble with external Teredo clients being able to ping my
home IPv6 addresses. All of these clients can reliably ping

USB key: CBIOS line printed, nothing else
Here's an interesting problem, and the first partial failure I've seen
when booting USB keys.
I've installed a bootable Knoppix "CD" image to my USB key, and posted a
writeup of my installation method here:
http://knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25402
Up until now, I've always had one of:
100% success (it fully boots)
100% failure (BIOS fails to recognize the USB

"pre-OS"
...nd any working code.
I like the Idea of booting a simple fail safe system and restarting a production kernel. Yes, UML- Linux would let me do some of this. I need to also look at UML.
Thank you for your time,

Invalid parameters for bitrate
Hi! I'm very impressed with the progress Ogg Vorbis has made, ever since
getting that T-shirt at LinuxWorld Expo :-)
Using oggenc, I've run into a problem, though:
"Mode initialisation failed: invalid parameters for bitrate"
This happens when 2 conditions are true: 1) the input file has a sampling
rate less than 44100, and 2) the -M parameter is used to specify a maximum
