cran-r debian readme used to include security flaw
I had to bust the cache on one of my Docker images and when I rebuilt it I noticed something rather concerning from the `apt-get install` step: gpg: requesting key E084DAB9 from hkp server ha.pool.sks-keyservers.net gpg: key E084DAB9: public key "Totally Legit Signing Key < mallory at example.org>" imported gpg: key E084DAB9: public key "Michael Rutter <marutter at gmail.com>" imported gpg: Total number processed: 2 gpg: imported: 2 (RSA: 2) The "Totally Legit Signing Key" didn't look so totally le...

setting the current working directory to the location of the source file
AFAIK a script run through source() does not have any legit way to learn about it's own location. I need this to make sure that the script will find its datafiles after I move the whole directory. (The datafiles are in the same directory.) Here is a hack I invented to work around it: print(getwd()) source_pathname = get("ofile",envir = par...

Grandstream surveillance devices
I just got a spam from telephonydepot (which I invited to spam me, so I guess I have to call it legit marketing :) ), and they have some new device that is meant to be a surveillance camera with audio, but the interface is POE and SIP! A cool idea. Anyone playing with this toy yet? I am trying to wrap my head around how asterisk might fit with the model of this camera being "recorded&quo...

running an icecast server
...at to one more common (80, 443...)? 2. Should I place the server behind a webserver like ngingx or apache? 3.Can I disable the login interface? what can be disabled? My best guess is to run icecast behind a webserver, keeping icecast on port 8000 and refusing everything that is not a request for a legit mount, adding a custom admin url. PJSIP_DIAL_CONTACTS issue
...ialplan issue with a PJSIP_DIAL_CONTACTS. When I try to call an offline endpoint with PJSIP_DIAL_CONTACTS, the dial command breaks and the call control go to hangup block instead of next priority. The error in CLI says "*Dial requires an argument (technology/resource)*". This error seems legit as there are no contacts for an offline endpoint. The dialplan should jump to the next priority. exten => 1001,1,Dial(${PJSIP_DIAL_CONTACTS(${EXTEN})}) exten => 1001,2,,NoOP(${DIALSTATUS}) exten => 1001,3,Dial(PJSIP/mytrunk/sip:${mob}@10.0.0.1) exten => h,1,NoOp() exten => h,n,NoOP...

[LLVMdev] RFC: what is the purpose of test/CodeGen/Generic?
...t we are effectively testing the Sparc backend unless you run the validation on a Sparc. Since “CodeGen” can’t really be generic (you’ll need a target), I’m not sure what is intended to be in it. I’d like to move most of the tests in their associated backend directory, but I’d like to hear what is legit to be here? Thanks, Mehdi

Look up table in function section

looking for matches
...on classes. I'm trying to create a match based on class names and if a match exists to create a third data frame with the class name. I was hoping to accomplish this with sapply, but I can't figure out if I can embed an "if statement" with sapply. Does anyone know if that's a legit way to accomplish what I am trying to do or is there some better way? thank you, Alina Sheyman [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

AIDE or OSSEC on CentOS 5.4 x86_64?
...wondering whether AIDE or OSSEC would be a better intrusion detection system. I installed AIDE and did a quick test of AIDE and after initializing the db and applying the recent cups update, I found that 1700+ files had changed. Those are a lot of changes to wade through to determine if they are legit or not. If that is all that AIDE can do, then it is not "manageable." Seems to me that any IDS must be tied to the yum update process so that one is not dealing with hundreds/thousands of changes that were brought in by a yum update that I choose to apply. Is OSSEC any less noisy? Dave...

Clang -O0 performs optimizations that undermine dynamic bug-finding tools
...m is running. To find errors with these tools, it is necessary that these errors stay in the program and are not optimized away. I think it is widely known that bugs are sometimes optimized away when compiling with optimizations turned on (-O1, -O2, -O3), and that there is a consensus that this is legit. However, I found that also bugs are optimized away while compiling with -O0. For example, I recently opened a bug report on the LLVM sanitizers Github space [1] to describe a case where ASan did not find an out-of-bounds access (see below). int count[7] = {0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0}; int main(int argc...

CDR changes in 1.4.3?
...to handle outgoing calls (lcr type stuff) and in addition to the proper CDR for the call itself I also have records to 's' in the same dest-context and entries to 's' in the default context. Up to 3 CDRs are generated for one outgoing call (SIP -> Zap channel) with one being the legit CDR and two being the type described above. My dialplan executes a ResetCDR after calling the lcr macro so that the CDR is sane and accurate, however, it appears these "spurious" CDR entries are generated by the call the ResetCDR even though I do not call it with any options.
