Question about --files-from= and folder structure
I'm writing a script to sync some mp3 files. Due to a limitation in the number of destination files that can be read from my thumb drive, I'm not looking to preserve the original file structure (actually, I'm looking to sync *only the files* to the new destination directory). The source files are all subfolders under /backup/Music: ./Adrian Legg/Mrs. Crowe's Blue Waltz/Paddy

Solaris nsswitch.conf with winbind
Hi, I have the exact same problem (described in this archived mail below) but couldn't find any solution in the archives or on google. So far, I have tried renaming one of the "allowed" libraries like ldap and then creating a symlink named nss_ldap.so.1 to point to nss_winbind.so.1 and also tried renaming in different versions of the /etc/nsswitch.conf file before and after

Solaris winbind with password aging (workaround inside)
A few days back, I asked whether it was possible to have winbind co-exist with password aging on a Solaris system. Seems like there is no easy way around this. After a few more days of frantic poking and truss-ing around, I found a crude but seemingly workable workaround. It seems the the library /usr/lib/passwdutil.so.1 is the one responsible for checking that the passwd entry in

Testing POP3 with telnet - password always wrong
Hello, I just installed the postfix and dovecot packages according to the document, http://www.debianadmin.com/debian-mail-server-setup-with-postfix-dovecot-sasl-squirrel-mail.html And it has been quite helpful. It looks like Dovecot works because I can communicate with it on port 110. I can't help but feel I am doing something stupid though... The web page listed above told me to test

Soft Deletes
How would I go about setting up my rails applications to soft delete items from the database rather than actually deleting it. I would imagine that I need to over ride the methods from ActiveRecord. Where would I do this would it be in the model? enviroment.rb? I would imagine that if i wanted it throughout my entire application it would need to be in the enviroment.rb. Also to

exim4 + dovecot + SquirrelMail virtualhosted on Debian
Hello, I have a Debian machine that is virtual-hosting 6 domains with exim4. I finally got exim4 working well enough where I can send and receive mail using the mail command on my machine. I would eventually like to have SquirrelMail (which requires IMAP) working on my website. For whatever reason, exim4 doesn't seem to support IMAP. I found out that Dovecot is a prominent IMAP server.

AGI stream file
Hi I have created a rudimentary perl script that does most of what I want but occasionally in seems that a file will not play. I see the message getting sent to Asterisk but no reply to say that it completed. In fact, the very next SAY DATE command works and everything after that but the previous message seems to be ignored. In addition, I found in one case that I had to read to STDIN

Backing up and restoring maildir folders
Hello, I am migrating to a different distribution of Linux that involves changing to an earlier version of dovecot (2.2.22 to 2.2.13). As part of this process, I will be copying several maildirs to the new machine. One of these has a number of files and directories that resemble this one example: cur/ dovecot.index dovecot.index.cache dovecot.index.log dovecot.mailbox.log dovecot-uidlist

Problem with winbind and nsswitch.conf on Solaris 8 server
Hello, I'm having some problems using winbind on Samba 3.0.1 with /etc/nsswitch.conf on a Solaris 8 server. The Solaris 8 release is 10/00. The basic problem that I have is that there are restrictions on what nsswitch.conf can contain if password ageing is used. My setup is that users connecting to shares on the Solaris samba server are authenticated against a accounts on a Windows Active

RoR data models ( extreme newbie question)
...with RoR. RoR appears to have a set of expected naming conventions which it would appear you can over ride but it would seems a hell of a lot easier if I could model my db to match what RoR wnats and he presto! I am in business. If anyone could point me to such a page/doc I would appreciate it Leggs -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Homogeneity of variance tests between more than 2 samples (long)
Dear all a couple of months ago i've found threads regard test that verify AnOVa assumption on homogeneity of variances. Prof. Ripley advice LDA / QDA procedures, many books (and many proprietary programs) advice Hartley's F_max, Cochran's minimum/maximum variance ratio (only balanced experiments), K^2 Bartlett's test, Levene's test.
