Testing POP3 with telnet - password always wrong
...It looks like Dovecot works because I can communicate with it on port 110. I can't help but feel I am doing something stupid though... The web page listed above told me to test the POP3 server using Outlook Express, and well, I am just not going to do that. Not when I can do it by hand... legg at debian:~$ telnet 192.168.10.171 110 Trying 192.168.10.171... Connected to 192.168.10.171. Escape character is '^]'. +OK Dovecot ready. Soft Deletes
How would I go about setting up my rails applications to soft delete items from the database rather than actually deleting it. I would imagine that I need to over ride the methods from ActiveRecord. Where would I do this would it be in the model? enviroment.rb? I would imagine that if i wanted it throughout my entire application it would need to be in the enviroment.rb. Also to

AGI stream file
Hi I have created a rudimentary perl script that does most of what I want but occasionally in seems that a file will not play. I see the message getting sent to Asterisk but no reply to say that it completed. In fact, the very next SAY DATE command works and everything after that but the previous message seems to be ignored. In addition, I found in one case that I had to read to STDIN

Backing up and restoring maildir folders
...h/ Is it good enough to simply stop dovecot and tar this folder, and others like it, and copy them back to a similar location on the new installation? I haven't yet seen anything that resembles an official or standardized backup/recovery method for dovecot. With thanks and appreciation, Tim Legg

Problem with winbind and nsswitch.conf on Solaris 8 server
