text_field not populating, but object exists!
Hi I''m having a problem with a little code here, hopefully it''s easy to
see what''s happening:
<% @lectures.each do |lecture| %>
<%= lecture.location%><br />
<%= text_field ''lecture'', ''location'' %>
<% end %>
The output I get is the text of the ''location'' rendering correctly, and
then an empty text input box!...

Hi All:
A couple of weeks back, I asked a question on the list that I was invited to provide an introductory lecture on R to a group of academicians in Kolkata. I thank all of you who had generously guided me in providing me web links and words to the wise.
Time to give back. I did the presentation on introduction to R and uploaded the presentation files at the following site:

Revision: post on Intro to R lecture
Hi All:
This follows my earlier post on webized slides on lecture presentation on introducing R. I learned that in Mozilla (Firefox) browsers, the slides did not show up. Sorry for the no show. As a reluctant windows user, I kind of carelessly clicked through Powerpoint to convert the presentation file to its html form, unwittingly leading to the mess.
See if i...

3d plotting alternatives. I like persp, but regret the lack of plotmath.
I have been making simple functions to display regressions in a new
package called "rockchalk". For 3d illustrations, my functions use
persp, and I've grown to like working with it. As an example of the
kind of things I like to do, you might consult my lecture on
multicollinearity, which is by far the most detailed illustration I've
prepared.
http://pj.freefaculty.org/guides/stat/Regression/Multicollinearity/Multicollinearity-1-lecture.pdf
I used persp mainly because I can understand it, and it can be made to
work like plot in R, with additional t...
