aggregate vs tapply; is there a middle ground?
...INCLUDING results for empty subsets, and still obtain a 2D array, matrix, or data.frame? OR alternatively is there a simple way to mush the 4D result from the tapply into a 2D matrix/data.frame? thanks very much in advance for any help! -jlb -- ************************************ Joseph P. probability histogram question
...the value : #[1] 10 I would really like to plot values in the probablility histogram that sum to 1, not 10. Is there a switch in the hist(x) command that I'm missing? Or, is there another function that can do this? Thanks in advance, jlb -- ************************************ Joseph P. Ordering boxplot factors
...the factors are ordered left-to-right along the x-axis by median, not alphabetically by factor name. Complicated ways abound, but I'm hoping for a magical one-liner that'll do the trick. Any suggestions would be treasured. Thanks, -jlb -- ************************************ Joseph P. changing degrees of freedom in summary.lm()
...I have but 219-17=202 df. I'm probably being dense on this one, but is there a way I can set df to the proper number so that summary.lm does the correct significance test? Or should I be doing an entirely different anlaysis? Thanks, -jlb -- ************************************ Joseph P. SUMMARY: aggregate vs. tapply
...st(tmp, A ~ B, sum) add.all.combinations(a, row="A", cols = "B") Good thing there are so many code cats around, 'cause we have so darn many ways to skin 'em. Thanks again to all who took the time to answer!! -Joseph -- ************************************ Joseph P.
