Would you post a few of those links? If nothing else, it might help others searching for info on this.

OSX and USB issue
Hi list,
I?ve spend a LOT of time reading and trying many versions, from Fink to Brew and also compiling source.
OSX 10.11.3
NUT: v2.7.4
Driver: nutdrv_atcl_usb
I have the same problem that has been reported, that Mac OSX grabs the USB device so NUT can?t use it.
0.001924 Starting UPS: UDups
0.001956 1 remaining attempts
0.001966 exec: /sw/lib/nut/nutdrv_atcl_usb -a UDups -u root

Can?t seem to get this working with Frys Electronic / ATCL FOR UPS device connect direct via USB.
This post suggests it should work:

OS Debian Jessie
NUT 2.7.4-20
Driver: nutdrv_qx
I?ve built nut from source and but get ?device not supported?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Apple iMac OS X 10.13.5 | Powershield Defender 1200 UPS
I got my USB ups reporting on macOS, but it was quite a while ago, I’ll have to dig into how I did it..
I do remember is wasn’t simple.. ( actually is was long drawn out pain in the …. )
Maybe search for posts from me, I’ll check what I did on the weekend and get back to you..
Or, buy an APC.. as they will just appear in Energy Saver..
