Ldapscripts v1.4 is out
Hello all, And now a small advert ;-) I'm pleased to announce the v 1.4 of the ldapscripts. The ldapscripts are shell scripts provided under the terms of the GPL license. They allow to manage POSIX accounts (users, groups, machines) in an LDAP directory. They can be used on GNU/Linux and FreeBSD (and any other Unix-like ?). They are similar to the smbldap-tools but are written in sh,...

Alternative to smbldap-tools
Hi There, i'm keep having problems with samba and smbldap-tools for adding machine accounts on the fly. So I'm somewhat sick of smbldap-tools and i wanted to know if someone is aware of an alternative to it. I haven't found one yet. Anyone? (except writing it myself what would be the very last alternative :) Thanks in advance Greets Patrick

problem about UID
Hi everyone, I have an ubuntu server 9.10 as server and fedora 11 as client and I have installed and configured samba 3.4.0 on ubuntu and samba 3.4.7-0.50.fc11 on fedora, and openldap smbldap-tools and ldapscript. My problems are related to UID numbers ( at least I think so). muratcan, muratcan2, muratcan3 has been created by ldapscript and on server side there is written UID numbers but on client side, names are written instead. The other users like murat murat2 murat3 and so has been c...

ldapsam:editposix: Which samba.schema attributes are modified when using "smbpasswd -a"?
Hi, I'm using Samba 3.2.5 on Debian Lenny in conjunction with MIT Kerberos. LDAP user accounts have already been added prior to the Samba installation using the ldapscripts package (also included in Debian). I understand that I have to run "smbpasswd -a" as root on the Samba server for each user that's supposed to be visible to (and usable by) Samba as well (a whole bunch of SambaSam* attributes gets added to a user's attribute set). What's no...

Hello to all, after noone bother my subject. I think I'm all alone making mistakes on this thing. But I should really know if it is possible to mange the administration of samba in an comfortable way. After all the years I worked with it I never did manage it to be in an sufficent manner. Is there a plan in the future to have a central administration within the samba package? --------

Problems with Samba 3.4 under Opensolaris snv_111b
...nt using "smbpasswd -a -m host$" sometimes it fails with: "pdb_default_create_user: failed to create a new user structure: NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER" The user exists then as created by the corresponding ldapadd script, but the samba related attributes are missing. I use the ldapscripts from sf.net. My ldap stuff in smb.conf is shown below. Has anybody some expierience how to make samba/ldap/M$ ready for production? Any hints would be greatly appreciated Best regards Ralf ######## # LDAP # ######## passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://127.0.0.1/ ldap ssl = Off...
