It is most likely something I am doing wrong, but could someone take a look at
why I can not get LDAP prefetch to work?
If I define things like this:

moving LDAP from one domain to another
Hello,
I am moving LDAP from one domain to another
We have moved off of a.wustl.edu network to b.school.edu network.
I have searched
vi /etc/nslcd.conf
vi /etc/openldap/ldap.conf
and removed all referances to "a"
I restarted
/etc/init.d/nscd restart
this is redhat 6.7, and my ldap server is now ldap.b.wustl.edu:389
a.school.edu to b.school.edu
I keep getting messages

Samba 3.x server with LDAP backend doesn't work
We have a central LDAP server for our enterprise on a Linux box. I have installed Samba 3.4.4 server on an AIX server and trying to get users authenticated via LDAP server. So far my efforts have been unsuccessful. Here is my ldap section of the smb.conf file:
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldaps://<company_ldap_server>/
ldap ssl = start tls
ldap suffix = dc=xxx,dc=yyy,dc=zzz
ldap delete dn = no
ldap user suffix = ou=People
ldap group suffix = ou=Groups
Here is the error I am seeing in the Samba errorlog:

visibility of groups when multiple Samba servers use the same LDAP server
...s". Still I don't understand one phenomenon
concerning visibility of LDAP groups.
The LDAP configuration in smb.conf for all our Samba servers is
basically like this (with each server having it's own branch for "ldap
group suffix", that's the point):
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://ldap.domain.tld
ldap suffix = dc=domain,dc=tld
ldap user suffix = ou=people
ldap group suffix = ou=server01,ou=smb,ou=Groups
NSS uses LDAP via SSSD like this:

ldap_uri = ldap://ldap.domain.tld

LDAP suffixes
need clarification of the use of:
ldap suffix
ldap machine suffix
ldap user suffix
ldap idmap suffix
smb.conf.5 indicates you should have a fully qualified suffix such as:
ldap suffix = dc=blah,dc=com
ldap machine suffix = ou=People,dc=blah,dc=com
ldap user suffix = ou=People,dc=blah,dc=com
ldap group suffix = ou=Groups,dc=blah,dc=com
ldap idmap suffix = ou=Idmap,dc=blah,dc=dom

FW: making BDC samba + ldap server
Is this Samba 3 or Samba 4?
If samba 3, which ldap server are you using>
What is the mail server? Does the mail server have its own LDAP server
included it or is also using an external LDAP server.
If you want replication between LDAP servers, they should be the same type
of LDAP server (e.g. OpenLDAP or Apache Directory Server or Oracle Directory
Server.) If you have one

Can't contact LDAP server,
I have samba 3 with ldap as a authentication backend. When I use pdbedit
-a user everything works ok and the user is adding to the ldap database.
But I have problem with exporting smbpasswd to ldap, when I try pdbedit
-i smbpasswd:/etc/samba/smbpasswd -e ldapsam
I've got a problem that failed to bind to server ldap://localhost
Error: Can't contact LDAP server,
but my ldap serwer is on the other host than localhost. I dont know why
it choose localhost as a ldap server.
And it is strange because if I use pdbedit -a user everything works ok.

samba net ads join windows active directory with ldap ssl
Hi,
On checking it further.
I observe below message from net ads command.
LDAP] TLS: hostname (*X.X.X.X*) does not match common name in certificate (
win.cifs.com).
[LDAP] ldap_err2string
Failed to issue the StartTLS instruction: Connect error
I am able to fetch data successfully from ldapsearch command.
It seems samba is connecting to ldap with IP but in client certificate
domain name is mentioned.
Please suggest how should i modify my smb.conf.

ldap configuration oddity
...docs I generated the config at the end.
When I run testparm against it I get:
Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf
Unknown parameter encountered: "ldap server"
Ignoring unknown parameter "ldap server"
and then the rest of my config file INCLUDING
passdb backend = ldapsam:ldaps://accounts.iwu.edu
I would suspect that LDAP support is not compiled in for this binary,
except then testparm should complain a bit more about all my LDAP
config settings, not just the ldap server setting. Furthermore, I am
using Fedora's rpm, and I think that they would either off...
