logging of ldap queries
Hi everyone, I am looking at a way to easily trace ldap queries to easily single out computers that have buggy software that download the whole AD (like a getent passwd with winbind enum users = yes for example). Increasing the debug level to 5 gives me the result I am looking for, however it is very very talkative and it fills up the log partition way too fast. I wanted to try to single out one

samba & winbind with AD 2K auth problem
Hi I cannot make winbind work correctly. My problem is that my AD users & groupes are not authenticated on my samba box. I made it work correctly on my samba 2.2x, an dfrom my understanding, each time a AD user is connected, a Unix account is created, nad winbind synhronize both accounts. It looks like the user script "/usr/sbin/useradd -s /bin/false %u" doesn't work, and my

Variable Scoping = Root Canal
I''ve been struggling with puppet variable scope all day, well, for several months actually. I think I have pretty simple requirements. For any given node, I want to be able to set a series of variables and include a set of classes, based on three different aspects of a node, being physical location, operating system, and function. If I try and do this with classes, I find that variables

samba AD DC eats memory
Thanks! I've got a fix for one issue seen here. I'd love to credit you with a fix. Please let me know what name and any affiliation (eg company) you would like listed. There will probably be more to come, and if you can try and get me the report for any other large processes that would be awesome. See BUG: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14299 MR:

samba AD DC eats memory
I should say, while it is good to fix, I don't think the fix below is the main issue. Your logs show Samba has loaded its schema from the DB 10 times, and each of those is 2MB. I think that is why the processes are so large, but it could be something else also. Do you have custom schema loaded? NT_STATUS_ADDRESS_NOT_ASSOCIATED error msg on DC boot
Hi, after rebooting the AD DC i regularly get NT_STATUS_ADDRESS_NOT_ASSOCIATED and - as a consequence - task_server_terminate: [XXXd failed to setup interfaces] error messages in log.samba (I removed a couple of "samba: setproctitle not initialized, please either call setproctitle_init() or link against libbsd-ctor." lines for better readability): [2019/06/11 09:23:47.400171, 0]

Webrick, ldap segfault on Linux
Hi all, Although this is happening in a Rails app, this is mainly a Ruby issue. I hit this issue on Solaris 10 with 1.8.2 but it went away with 1.8.4. However, when I moved the app over to a Linux box (kernel 2.6.8), it reared its ugly head again, even when using Ruby 1.8.4. I tried using a Ruby built with and without --enable-pthread. Didn''t make a difference either way.

High CPU usage by rpc_server
We have two Samba AD-DC. One is version 4.5.12 (debian) and 4.5.11 (ubuntu). On both, the rpc_server is using one core to the max 99-100% all the time. I see the PID by samba-tool processes and I see something like dnsupdate 19526 cldap_server 19520 rpc_server 19515 rpc_server 19515 rpc_server 19515 rpc_server 19515

winbind backends ad and rfc2307 both with errors...
Hello, I just set up a samba server (version 2:4.1.13+dfsg-4) on Debian 7.7, being a member server of a Win2k8-Domain (before that, that server was an old SuSE (10.4)-Samba with own user-management (standalone-server). I would like to use winbind with the idmap backend "ad" or "rfc2307" instead. When using rfc2307 (like in my conf specified), I can do successfully: wbinfo

samba / winbind user authentication problem
Hi, I have a problem with samba / winbind PAM authentication. Domain controller is samba4, machines users log on to via PAM are samba 3.6 (all of them ubuntu 12.04 LTS). The whole user authentication was working already, but after a reboot it somehow broke. Additional reboots don't help. The funny thing is that all logs look quite OK to me (except for the single line saying
