LCA (e1071 package): error
Hello,
I will use the lca method in the e1071 package. But I get the following error:
Error in pas[j, ] <- drop(exp(rep(1, nvar) %*% log(mp))) :
number of items to replace is not a multiple of replacement length
Does anybody know this error and knows what this means?
Kind regards,
Tryntsje

...e, page() shows the structure to be quite different compared
to building it by hand.
What is going on? And how am I supposed to do this. (And no,
I didn't expect that the output of plot() would be sensible!)
Thanks again,

Samba MiniConf at LCA 2003
Hello All,
I'm one of the organisers for The Australian Linux Technical
Conference called linux.conf.au (LCA for short). At LCA we are having
mini-conferences. These mini-confs are not officially part of the main LCA
but are aimed at specific subsections of the (Australian) Linux community.
Currently at LCA2003 we have a confirmed Debian mini-conf SAGE-AU (Systems
Administrators Guild of Aus.) are also...

Latent class analysis, selection of the number of classes
...,
I perform latent class analysis on a matrix of dichotomous variables to
create an indicator of class/category membership for each observation. I
would like to know whether there is a function that selects the best fit in
terms of number of classes/categories.
Currently, I am doing this with the lca() function of the e1071 package.
This function requires me to specify the number of classes and to compare
fit statistics for each run of lca. This becomes somewhat cumbersome the
more variables the data matrix contains and, thus, the greater the number of
possible classes is. I was wondering wheth...

LCA in e1071
Hello there,
In the e1071 package,'lca' function only works for binary data for
Latent class analysis. Am I right?
I would like to test the agreement amongst 6 raters for nominal data
ona scale from 1-4, and conduct a latent class analysis. What package
and what function may I use?
Thank you very much

Upcoming LCA presentation
As some of you may know, I'm going to be presenting CELT at the upcoming
linux.conf.au conference in January. See
http://linux.conf.au/programme/schedule/view_talk/187?day=thursday for
details about the talk. I would like to include some references to real
world applications, demos, etc., where your are already using (or
planning to use) CELT. If you want me to mention your project in front

Good thing you've got time off work so you can get work done! Shall I
harass you about your patch queue at LCA?

run latent class analysis with R
What's the best approach to running latent class analysis with R? I've downloaded both randomLCA and poLCA packages, but I am interesting in running a standard LCA with individual records (not frequency table) as input data.

filebucket retrieval
Hi,
While at LCA this year I was talking to James Turnbull, and I think he
said it was possible to
a) pull files off a puppet client to the puppet master
b) push those files out to other puppet clients
I''ve been reading up on FileBucket and I don''t understand how I can
achieve that, or if I...

Decoding .spx with 1.0 on ppc produces noise!
Hi,
I got my hands on the LCA 2003 CD today and I tried to listen to it on
my powerbook running Linux. Instead of getting speech, I got an earfull
of noise! Attempting the same experiment on an i386 with the same CD
produced understandable speech.
It seems that the output routine in speexdec converts the output data to
little...

EM unsupervised clustering
Hi All,
I have a n x m matrix. The n rows are individuals, the m columns are variables.
The matrix is in itself a collection of 1s (if a variable is observed for an
individual), and 0s (is there is no observation).
Something like:
[,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5] [,6]
[1,] 1 0 1 1 0 0
[2,] 1 0 1 1 0 0
[3,] 1 0 1 1 0 0
[4,] 0 1 0
