I was told this may be specific to ldap setup with samba 3.0.0, but is fixed in later versions of samba.
however, in 3.0.1, there is a far worse bug that makes machines only available some of the time(i was told this might be fixed in 3.0.2).

The error it is coming up with is

Samba 3.0 Stable Release - Bug in net rpc vampire ?
hi there
after successfully joining an NT domain i tried
net rpc vampire -S ntpdc
and get:
Fetching DOMAIN database
SAM_DELTA_DOMAIN_INFO not handled
net: decode.c:634: ber_scanf: Assertation
`((ber)->ber_opts.lbo_valid==0x2)` failed.
Aborted
samba compiled perfectly on my suse 8.2 box
with rc1 and beta1 i had no problems with net rpc vampire
so what's wrong?

Migrating from win2k pdc to samba3 + ldap + pam + nss
...the new domain. None of the
imported accouts worked. I read some more docs and tried a

Samba PDC w/ LDAP & Mass Adding Users
Hi, I am running into a bit of a strange problem. I have a Perl script
that creates usernames for mass-adding users. This script used to use the
standard Linux 'adduser' command to add users to the system. I am now
switching everything over to LDAP, including Samba.
I have modified the custom Perl script to add users in bulk for
