Worked examples?
I've been experimenting with Samba a bit. I won't claim to know a whole lot about it, because I don't, and I'm even somewhat of a newbie when it comes to Linux/UNIX. But I've been working with the worked examples that the HOW TO docs describe on the website, configuring my smb.conf file as is stated. I'm running Samba 3.0.14a-2 on Fedora Core 4, and I'm running into a

OCFS & Red Hat AS 4
...CFS with the newly released Red Hat AS 4? Since this version is based on the 2.6 kernel (2.6.9, I believe,) will that present any issues with the internals of OCFS? Or is OCFS 2 close enough to production status to wait for it, instead. TIA. -- Gashaw Teshome Senior Systems Specialist FIS - LAUSD 213-633-8138

degraded performance under domain login load
Hi guys, Not sure how to diagnose this problem however i have recently upgraded one of my schools sites from gentoo to freebsd which moved us from samba 3.0.14 to 3.0.21b and the first thing I noticed was when the students came to login if they all logged in at once the performance of login was crippled to a near standstill! As a test i swapped in the gentoo box and forced the upgrade to

Question regarding sizes of of Samba for SuSE Linux
My high school computer lab has a Samba file server, currently running SuSE Linux 9.3; over the summer, I plan to wipe out the hard drives and install SuSE Linux 10.0; with this in mind, I have just downloaded the latest Samba, and I was struck by the tremendous difference between the relative sizes of samba-3.0.5 and samba-3.0.22. 6,413,555 samba-3.0.5-0.1.i586.rpm 10/01/2004 04:54
