Installin wine 1.3 shouldn't be this complicated!
I'm new to ubuntu but i'm starting to understand it. However, Ubuntu is completely useless for me if I can't run the latest version of wine (1.3).
Wine 1.2 was working great on 10.04 however photoshop cs4 wouldn't install on it. So I upgraded to maverick, deleted wine 1.2, and am now trying to install wine 1.3. Should be simple, right?
I've added the correct repositories to

Ogg Vorbis bitrate peeling bounty on Launchpad
Hello all,
Just a quick note to let you all know that I have placed a bounty on
Lauchpad to get bitrate peeling added to Vorbis. It is a feature that I
think we would all like to have, and would probably pay something to
get, but it hasn't been done.
My request to you is to add to the bounty. I have seeded it with US$20,
which is not enough to motivate a developer to get it done, but I am a

I broke WINE plz help.
I changed this week to Ubuntu from winows 7.
I spent the last few days trying to get World of Warcraft to run. After tossing lots of code at this and days on the net I was able to get it to work using PlayOnLlinux and WINE.
Today...I thought I would work on getting my MS Office 2010 to install and work. I hosed every thing. Had MSXML issues and sorm rtpd4.dll file I had to down load and over

Please be careful with R 3.4.2 upgrades via CRAN, launchpad, ...
Corrected packages are now on the RRutter PPA (
https://launchpad.net/~marutter/+archive/ubuntu/rrutter) and soon on CRAN
mirrors.
If you have any issues or questions, please let me know.

c2d4u3.5 ppa for Ubuntu 20.04?
Hi
I tried to use Michael's ppa after having installed Ubuntu 20.04 and R 4,
and it seems the ppa is not available now for 20.04, I get message: The
repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/marutter/c2d4u3.5/ubuntu focal
Release' does not have a Release file
Am I doing something wrong, or is it correct that it is not available yet?
Are there any plans to implement it at some point?

Nice work--thanks so much for the prompt attention. We should be back in
business, having overriden the tag to r-api-3. We'll deal with the tag

Ubuntu PPA changes
I've created a new PPA in which to maintain the backported versions of
the latest Debian packages to Ubuntu releases:
https://launchpad.net/~xapian/+archive/ubuntu/backports
The reason for this change is that the existing PPA is stuck using a
GPG key created when the PPA was first created a decade ago. This
is a 1024 bit RSA key using SHA1 as the hash, and that's not really

Please be careful with upgrades to R 3.4.2.
To cut a long story short, this has to do with minor internal changes in R
3.4.0 from April which require _some_ packages to be rebuilt. I argued for
that approach (ie: incremental, careful, no side effects) within Debian, and
lost. The _official_ packages in Debian now carry a new tag r-api-3.4 (as
opposed to previous r-api-3) in order to force clean

[LLVMdev] About setting up official git & bzr mirrors.
Launchpad already maintains bzr mirrors:
http://code.launchpad.net/llvm
The mirrors are the lp:~vcs-import branches (a specific launchpad user used
for automatically mirroring branches).

Building klibc on 64-bit Ubuntu
Hi,
I am trying to build Klibc on a 64-bit Ubuntu on a x86 machine.
Here are the steps I followed:
1. Got the source

tar xvzf klibc_2.0.1.orig.tar.gz
wget

tar xvzf
