automatic startup in leopard
I''ve been having quite a bit of trouble since upgrading to leopard.
I had a launchctl plist file that seemed to work (attached). It essentially
ran mongrel_rails bunch of times with different arguments.
In leopard it fails to load, saying:
launchctl: propertyList is NULL
launchctl: no plist was returned for: net.mongrel.plist
launchctl: no plist was returned for: net.mongrel.plist...

To be honest, I haven't experimented much with this, but I saw a normal shutdown/reboot when I just tried this from the command line (10.12):

errors on getaddrinfo(): nodename nor servname provided, or not known
Hello openssh developers,
I had built openssh-4.7p1 on arm-apple-darwin9 platform, but
I get this error when I load sshd using launchd:
root# launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.openssh.sshd.plist
errors on getaddrinfo(): nodename nor servname provided, or not known
When I execute sshd directly, I don't get any warnings or error
messages, but the sshd is not listening on the intended port, and it's
not running.

How do I change MYSQL startup options on Mac??? (can't work it out)
Hi,
Can anyone help me out re how I change the startup options for mysql (v5.0)
running on my Mac? (I just want to add the "--log" option is about it). I
tried doing "sudo ./Library/StartupItems/MySQLCOM/MySQLCOM restart" however
this started a 2nd instances of mysql & mysqld.
Here is what I see start after Mac startup if this helps:
$ ps aux | grep mysql
_mysql 137 0.0

Refresh not working with launchd service provider?
...priate places, then applying example.pp will start the service if it is not already running. But subsequent runs will not restart it, even though the log messages say that the file''s content changed and that it triggered a refresh of the service.
If I run the apply with --debug, the only launchctl command that I see in the output is a launchctl list command.
Does anyone see anything wrong with the above files, or should I submit a bug report.
Thanks - David

Here's the error messages from Term:

I followed the port instructions to the T. Any tips are greatly
appreciated!
I don't know much (anything) about tun/tap, but from googling, I know that
tuntaposx was installed by port, but maybe it's badly misconfigured?

This works for me on 10.12.5. (There is a warning that SuccessfulExit is an "unknown key" from launchd.)

I am on my Mac, in Snow leopard, 10.6.8. Whenever I try to use wine to open a program or and application this message comes up in terminal:

Apple Mail and too many open files?
...og like:
May 24 07:31:10 top dovecot: pipe() failed: Too many open files
To solve this, I have to kill -9 dovecot and the (many) imap
processes running.
The only client accessing the server is a machine running Apple Mail.
I tried to increase the limit in the number of files (I did a
"launchctl limit maxfiles 1024 unlimited", but the problem still
happened.
Is this a known problem? Should I allow still more files?
Thanks,
Alan

How do I fix this: master: Warning: fd limit (ulimit -n) is lower than required
Yes,tried a range from 100 to 1000, but the warning still happens, with varying outputs saying its either over or under. I'm looung for a way to set the limit when dovecot starts, or as part of the startup process actually.

RSync on Mac
I’m having a heck of a time setting up an RSync server on a mac OS X system. I have run it as a daemon (--daemon) with a configuration file and have created a plist file and put it in the launch directory. Still can’t get a connection. When I run ths ps –E on the system, I don’t see rsync running.
Any links to good setup docs?
