Using Thunderbird as local mail reader
Hi!
I'm trying to figure out how to use Thunderbird as a local mail reader.
So far I don't see any way to configure it other than as a POP3 or IMAP mail reader,
but I get my mail locally and would like to try using Tbird to read it.
What am I overlooking?
Thanks in advance!

sticky bit inside user's dir
Hello there,
I have the following problem. I need a user not to be able to delete
(rm -rf) a dir inside his home directory (a dir which is owned by him).
The sticky bit is supposed to do just that... and it does, in every part
of the file system but in his home.
Same goes for acls (setfacl -m u:user:rx dir), a rm -rf inside his
directory will render the acls useless.
Is there any workaround

GIMP 2.3.15 for EL5, no newer libs required
...ilds are obviously not as stable as 2.2.13, nor are they patched against bugs or newer vulnerabilities. I have adapted (from Mandriva's 2.3.14 as of 2007.1) the patches for CVE-2006-4519, CVE-2007-2949 and CVE-2007-3741.
To get these builds (RPMs and SRPMs), use the repo file:
http://odiecolon.lastdot.org/el5/odiecolon.repo
The site is not browsable, because I can't make it so (Lucian, any help?). Still, the repo should work (it worked for me).
A *few* more details here:

Please test and report if it works for you or not -- I only use a limited set...

KVM + KSM?
Hi guys,
Any chance we could get KSM support in centos 5.4? Maybe the
centosplus ones or a gift from elrepo.

Centos and RadeonHD 4570
Hi guys,
Recently I've done a bad bad thing, buying a laptop with an ATI card.
The card itself is supposed to be quite decent performance wise, but
the ATI drivers still suck a lot.
I haven't yet tried booting Centos on this laptop, but I used a Fedora
12 LiveCD. Fedora displays things nicely, but no 3D accel (I like to
play OpenArena/Tremulous every now and then).
After some serious

openssl and eliptic curve
Hello,
I'm trying to rebuild redhat openssl rpm with eliptic curve support
enabled. What I did is just edit the spec file and modify the
configure parameters from no-ec to enable-ec.
Not surprisingly the package does not build with this enabled:
http://pastie.org/2334009
This appears to be deliberate due to shitware patents.
Anyone knows how to "fix" this?
Thanks

my fonts look horrible (centos5.3/xfce)
Hi all,
I can't seem to get my fonts to look decent under CentOS. I was able to
make them look pretty good under Ubuntu, but for the life of me I can't
make them look decent on CentOS.

Server Build Example
I'm coming from the Fedora arena and I want to build, what I would call, a
production server. I'm to the point where I don't want to upgrade every
6-months. I'm running Oracle DB 11g, a Tomcat/JBoss hybrid application
server, and several other server type functions.
Is there an example of building a server that boots into init3?
Thanks,

Dag's comment at linuxtag

"....Right next to the Gentoo stand was a group of young people, proudly displaying their affiliation with CentOS.
Dag Wieers, the well-known maintainer of a once very popular RPM
repository, greeted me with a big smile: "Do you know CentOS?" When I
introduced myself, he looked somewhat disappointed: "Oh, so you know

SSH attacks from china
Okay, I have a server connected to the net but have not added fail2ban or
anything on top of my firewall yet.
Thought you guys might get a kick out of this one user, ip is from china,
who has got a heck of a knack for making assumptions on possible usernames.
Enjoy this..., 8000+ attempts. Scroll down for funky ones. I have no root
access enabled on this server and it is pretty bare. Just using

Web photo gallery options
Hi all,
I'm looking for a web photo gallery for my personal web server at home. Till
now I've done the galleries manually from Adobe Photoshop Elements, but I
feel that is a dead end, kinda', besides the fact that the galleries created
are rather static. I'd like an easier way to do this, eg uploading images in
folders directly to the gallery and it will take care of what needs to
