Define variable in sip.conf
I'm looking for a way to transmit a user specific variable to my dialplan If we use the example of the hair color, I was thinking of having something like: [bob] context=users host=dynamic secret=password type=friend username=bob hair=brown [lary] context=users host=dynamic secret=password type=friend username=lary hair=black And be able to access from the dialplan: [users] Exten => _X.,1,NoOp(my hair color is ${hair}) So that when lary would call we would get a NoOp "my hair color is black" and when bob calls we wouls get a...

Why does simple smb.conf demand password?
I am trying to setup a simple Samba server using the instructions in the O'Reilly book "Using Samba" first edition on a Slackware 9.1 system which uses Samba 2.2.8a. The windows machine uses windows 98SE. The instructions under Server Configuration starting page 93 and Disk Share Configuration starting page 96 had me setup a very simple smb.conf which should then appear in Network

Directory structure replication on distributed volumes
Most common disk file systems have a maximum of 2^32 inodes, whereas GlusterFS can have 2^64 as far as I know. GlusterFS seems to replicate the directory structure on distributed volumes on all bricks, unlike files which it puts into only one brick. Does this mean that if there are lots of folders, such as each file in a leaf node of a directory tree, the inode count limit of the underlying disk

integrating shorewall and fwsnort
Hi, I like shorewall and I''ve been using it for a long time. I now have a requirement to block worms / trojans in a public free wifi network I''m running. fwsnort ( http://www.cipherdyne.org/fwsnort/) translates Snort rules to iptables rules and it seems to fit my requirements. What is the best way to integrate shorewall and fwsnort? I tried googling for information about this

issues with password-file
I have rsync daemon running on a fedora core 4 box that I am trying to use as a backup server for my web sites. I dont have shell access on my web host so will need to run a cron job to do the backups, which is what I want to do anyway. For testing purposes however I am using a php script using the "system()" function so I am getting some feedback. In my rsyncd.conf file I have the
