...could they do one; if they know what
the problem is)? A new [fast] machine added to our network recently seems
to be able to crash our server very regularly. :)

P.S. On another issue, is 1.9.18 on alpha as far as the domain logon
support for NT is concerned? i.e. could I use it on my (largley non-NT)
network with reliable support for 95/etc. clients?

There _are_ systems with hot-swap CPUs, memory and/or, PCI[-X] slots.
They are _not_ commodity and pricey, and require OS-level support.
In fact, I believe Linux 2.6 has some support for

has some of the latest, run-time register renaming and out-of-order
execution control in the core itself. This is why doing something
like HyperThreading would benefit AMD _very_little_ and largley
introduce self-defeating (and even performance reducing) overhead.
In addition to the design of PAE52, the #1 reason why you can
safely assume AMD is moving towards virtualization is because of
the design limits they put on Athlon64/Opteron. E.g., although the
original 32-bit Athlon platform used...
