Changing ACLs as administrator
One work-around would be to create a hidden share that only Domain Admins
can access. The use "force user=root" on that share. Then you'll be able to
change ACL's and not be root.

Fw: Samba 3.0-alpha 18 with ldapsam backend and primary gid of user?
...seems to me that the smbgroupedit program is not usefull when
authenticating against a ldap server (I have tried to map some of the unix
groups to the "domain groups" but didn't notice any change).
Is this right?
Thanks again,
Eddie.

the Windows NT's WINS database.
Et voila, it's working for a week allready without any problems.
Any comment's?

Samba 3.0-alpha 18 with ldapsam backend and primary gid of user?
...g these kind of errors in the samba log
files?
I just went over from 2.2.5 to 3.0-alpha 18, I never had these errors in the
2.2.5 version.
Especially the rid [0] is a complete mistery to me since I have no account
defined in my ldap service that has rid 0.
Thank you very much for your help.
Eddie Lania.

Dear list members,
I am unable to logon to the domain.
I have created the tdbsam using the "smbpasswd -a root" command.
I also added User Administrator as unix and samba account.
I also mapped groups "Domain Admins", "Domain users" and "Domain Guests" to
unix groups domadmins, domusers and domguests using the "net groupmap
modify" command.
But is

Setup samba 2.2.5 with ldap against windows nt4 domain?

I would like to setup a samba 2.2.5 BDC with ldapsam against a Windows NT 4
PDC.
Is this possible?
Allready using it now in single (user security level) server mode.
Also using the smbldap package to store current user accounts in the ldap
tree.
The users credentials on the PDC should be stored automaticly in the ldap
tree.
Do I need winbind for this to work?
If I currently change

Windows NT PDC and Samba PDC cross subnet browsing?
Hello,
I have been searching for answers now more then a week, but I cannot find a
proper solution.
Please help me with this:
Scenario:
Two differnet subnetted networks (1 and 2) connected by a cipe tunnel
between two linux Samba boxes over the internet.
On network one (1) is a Windows NT PDC installed which currently is the DMB
for it's domain (1).
On network two (2) one of the linux
