Simple question about error on CSV import
...eader=TRUE, > sep=",", row.names="#") Error in data[[rowvar]] : attempt to select less than one element I can't see how it could get any more simple, yet it doesn't work. I'm obviously missing something basic, but based on the error, I can't see what it is. Simple as.Date question dealing with a timezone offset
...around is to split the date/time string into its component parts, reassemble it into a string as.Date can deal with, but that seems to defeat one of the purposes of as.Date's format capability. Any advice for how to translate a "Tue Sep 15 09:22:09 -0600 2009" into an R Date object? best method to format output of frequency table
...able to somehow output this table in the form: attempted-admin 93 attempted-recon 35 attempted-user 21 misc-activity 30 and so on. Is there a function I'm missing or some option that will let me be able to dump the fclass_types out in a two-column format? problem with R CMD build (PR#7240)
...c/DOCUME~1/sego/LOCALS~1/Temp What is TMPDIR? How can I set it? I've installed Perl as well as the extra binary files (make.exe, etc.) needed to build and install libraries under Windows (not that they're related to this problem...) Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks, Landon Sego _________________________________________ Landon Sego Department of Statistics Virginia Tech 414 Hutcheson (540) 231-2144

rpart question
...ike to have to have the algorithm choose the 'simpler' split. Is this best done with the 'cost' argument in the rpart options? This defaults to one for all variables... so would it make sense to scale this by nlevels in each variable or sqrt(nlevels) or something similar? Thanks, Landon [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

RE: problem with R CMD build--FIXED (PR#7241)
...;Properties", "Advanced", "Environment Variables" and then set new variable called "TMPDIR". Having done that, "r CMD build" works in Cygwin too. I wonder why I never saw this before with the previous machine? Well it looks like this one is fixed. Which hardware configuration? How would this work?
...sterisk system would be awesome. Once we replace our current setup we will delve into the extended features/options available. VOIP is probably the most important one after we switch systems entirely. Does R have graphlets?
I've been experimenting some with the graphlets which S-Plus 6.1 has. Is there something similar in R? I've looked through documentations, and at SJava, but haven't found it. (If you don't know what a graphlet is, here's what it appears to be: a graphlet is a binary file that encodes information about a graph. Java uses spgraph.jar to display the graph and allow certain
