samba WINS problem on 2 networked LANS using a VPN connection
...Samba experts,
Please read all email because i'm desperate!!!!!
I have problem on joining to LAN-s using Samba. Finally i got a solution to
"see" booth workgroups on "Entire Network", but i'm having problem with
stations located in LAN2. From any station located in LAN1, I can see LAN2
workgroup and the browse list with stations located in LAN2, but when i'm

weird fail with conversion to bridges?
...s. suffice it to say I need bridges to connect a
few different vlans that should all be one but can''t be because of
firmware constraints. so my first step is to get shorewall to know
about bridges. I convert my existing config to a bunch of bridges lan0
becomes a member of br-lan0, lan1 becomes a member of br-lan1, and
shorewall gets edited. interfaces and routestopped, I prefix lan0 and
lan1 with br- and I restart shorewall (sudo shorewall safe-restart).
This is a ubuntu system, and far as I can tell everything is right. I''m
using shroewall 4.4 so I add routeback...

Routing / NAT for Multi Subnet Router
...outer between several subnets (each also a
different segment), in total 3 different lans, 2 dmz, and 4 internet
connections, my default FORWARD policy is DROP, here is a simplified example
of my config with only two lan segments and internet connection:
Allow forwarding between lans
-A FORWARD -s lan1/mask -j ACCEPT
-A FORWARD -d lan1/mask -j ACCEPT
-A FORWARD -s lan2/mask -j ACCEPT
-A FORWARD -d lan2/mask -j ACCEPT
Are some of those redundant?
Then I want to nat anything that is not to one of the local subnets (i.e. is
going to internet), but the only way I can find to do that is to setup rul...

Will couple of packets drop when in-frequent traffic go through tinc?
An very interesting test did yesterday that, LAN1 and LAN2 setup an tinc VPN which is quite simple(the physical link between tinc nodes are quite stable/fast), and no any application traffic to go through the tinc.
Later, I setup smokeping which LAN1 initial 20 ping to LAN2 on a per-minute basis, but as you saw from the below picture, it had pack...

Interconnecting two lans using Asterisk over a PSTN
...media and all my IP applications should work, it is like the PPP IP
link over PSTN I would like to have.
If one have an Internet/SDL access is it possible to have a dual access, in
such if one network fails, I can switch automatically to another?
Here below the network architecture I imagine.

Card)-ASTERISK-(IP LAN 2)
Thank you so much for your help.

Hi
I set-up a gre tunnel between two linux boxes.
A short diagram is like this
lan1 -> router1 ----- router2 <- lan2
The tunnel works fine, i can ping from lan1 to lan2 but the problem is the speed between lan1 and lan2 is lower than it supposed to be
If i log in to router1 and transfer something from router2 or lan2 it is working at maximum speed, 1024kbits/s. The problem...

WINS across two networks and a router

two networks--192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0--with SMB and WINS running between
them. So far I can mount SMB shares allright, but I can''t browse by WINS
names across the router. I''ve posted this question on Linuxquestions.org;
you''ll find the details there.

priorizing vlans in a bridge
...gt;eth0.2 |
----------------------------
I have to bridge the 2 lans in the left side of the diagram with my linux box
running as a bridge. I have to tag the traffic of each lan so I created the 2
vlans interfaces on eth0 (tag 1 and tag 2).
All works fine. But now I have to priorize LAN1 traffic so it leaves the bridge
before LAN2. Also I need to shape the traffic to the 1 Mbps link.
I read about the "prio" qdisc but it honours the TOS field of the IP packets,
and I don''t want to unless it was really necessary.
I read about the "prio" option of the htb...

DHCP assigned gateway in /etc/shorewall/providers?
Is there a way to specify a variable for the gateway in
/etc/shorewall/providers? I have in my scenario:
eth0 dsl (static IP)
eth1 cable (dhcp assigned IP)
eth2 lan1
Is it possible to specify the gateway as a variable based on the current
DHCP lease (like $eth0_gw)? I''m following the documentation at
http://www.shorewall.net/Shorewall_and_Routing.html.

Shorewall 4.4.6 and Multiple ISP with 2 routed subnets
Hello,
I have 2 ISP uplinks (zones: inet1 and inet2), each with a fixed IP on the outside and a routed subnet (/25 and /26) on the inside. So, behind the firewall i have 2 networksegments (lan1 and lan2) with public IP-addresses. The segments are completely isolated from eachother: hosts in zone "lan1" connect only to "inet1" and hosts in zone "lan2" only connect to "inet2".
Because the segements don''t have to switch ISP, loadbalancing...

[Bridge] [PATCH v2 net-next 6/6] selftests: forwarding: add dynamic FDB test
...to what is loaded along the
> way. A major problem with my system.
I'm sorry for perhaps asking something entirely obvious, but have you tried:
kernel-dir $ rsync -avr tools/testing/selftests/ root@$board:selftests/
board $ cd selftests/drivers/net/dsa/
board $ ./bridge_locked_port.sh lan0 lan1 lan2 lan3
?
This is how I always run them, and it worked fine with both Debian
(where it's easy to add missing packages to the rootfs) or with a more
embedded-oriented Buildroot.
