DarkIce problem
...: according to the man this function is linked to /etc/hosts,
which contains only one line : 127.0.0.1
I replaced my DNS with my IP (not successfully...), and with 127.0.0.1
in /etc/darkice/cfg. Now I get another error message (but this does not seem
to have any link to network issues...) :
"lameLibEncoder.cpp : lame lib opening underlying sink error"
Well, now a Lame problem ?
Please help, according to everything I read DarkIce is worth a try :-)

Trying to stream to a Nanocaster/2.0 server
...Nanocaster/2.0
Content-Type: audio/mpeg
Cache-Control: no-cache
Pragma:no-cache
Connection: close
Content-Length: 44000000
I tried Liveice (XMMS plugin) and it wouldn't connect properly. I
tried ices, that too would not work. I even tried DarkIce 0.8, but it
would just crash with:
DarkIce: LameLibEncoder.cpp:187: lame lib opening underlying sink error
[0]
I am able to stream to the server if I boot into Windows, fire up
Winamp and the shoutcast plugin.. that's just fine, but in Linux, it's
a no-go.
If anyone can point me in the right direction as to how I can go
about doing this, I...

this is a test written in my code. does the lame library support other
bits per sample then 8 or 16 bits per sample? can you encode with the
command line lame with such bits per sample?

Unfortunately, darkice doesn't help much. It merely says:
DarkIce: LameLibEncoder.cpp:75: lame lib opening underlying sink error [0]
which is the error that comes up when it can't connect to the server.
Yes, I opened up the port 1 up from the regular port.
any ideas?

well of course, the nanocast server uses some different login protocol
than icecast or shoutcast. is there a site for this server? maybe a spec
on the source login protocol? then I could add support for it to darkice

That shouldn't be possible, unless... I think it might be possible if the
source never sends any data at all (just the headers)?

Maybe darkice requires a slightly different protocol? icecast in
shoutcast-compatibility mode stays as close to valid HTTP as possible while
being compatible w...

this generally means that darkice couldn't connect to icecast for some
reason. please double check that you are indeed using icecast 1.x (not
2, or specify an icecast2 section in darkice instead), that the host
name, port and password a...
