Hi We have already setup LADP server for entire institute, but we dont have admin access on that server. We want to user the same LDAP accounts for samba authentication for department server. Is it possible to do this without admin password for LDAP. I searched alot but couldn't find anything for this. thanx in advance....

Hi list, I've made a new CentOS 5 install with all updates. My users are sored in a ldap directory. If i reboot the machine, CentOs hangs at: starting messagebus I found the same problem at Fedora 5. The solution should be to change "etc/init.d/ladp" from 27 to 21 so it starts before messagebus (22) So is this the "right" solution or is there a other way? Hi, I have an existing OpenLDAP directory, that I want to use as the backend for a Samba 3 instance. I do not want for now making Samba a Domain Controller, but only define in it some shares accessible by users on LDAP. Hi List, It is simply not possible to create users and machines in an OU other than "ou=people,<ldab_base_dn>" Even when I change this in smb.conf, smbpasswd -a <user> or -a -m <machine> always fails with NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER. HI I have a linux samba server and lists users at this server. and access the folder from the windows7 client. Now i configure a LDAP sever and let samba to use it . But I don’t want clients keeping the connection because I have changed the authentication,clinets need to re-login. So I restart smbd. and it works.
