value labes Stata vs factors
Dear Sir/Madam,
I converted my Stata Rgenmetvl.dta file with read.dta succesfully in R's
Rgenmetvl.Rdata. However, factors give problem in certain calculations,
e.g.:
> mean(Rgenmetvl$sex)
[1] NA
Warning message:
In mean.default(Rgenmetvl$sex) :
argument is not numeric or logical: returning NA
What can I do?
In addition to means, summary(Rgenmetvl$sex) works perfectly.
Best regards,

Vegan: how to plot sites labes in diversity plot
Dear List,
I can'f figure how to add point labels in the next plot (example from
?taxondive help page, from vegan package):
library(vegan)
data(dune)
data(dune.taxon)
taxdis <- taxa2dist(dune.taxon, varstep=TRUE)
mod <- taxondive(dune, taxdis)
plot(mod)
The points in this plot are diversity values of single sites, and I'd
like to add a label to each one. The plot command don't

Help configuring dovecot for SSL
Hi:
I'm running dovecot on a Fedora 3 box and would like to be able to
make a TLS connection to it with my Pegasus Mail program running on
my Winblows machine. Does anybody know if it is possible?
If it is I could really use some help configuring my dovecot. I have
tried for several days but I really don't know what I'm doing and
need a direction to start.
Thanks,

Ultrastmonkey? Ultramonkeyast? Astrimonkey? High Availability and Asterisk
Hi All,
I've been labing up some HA Asterisk senario's using LVS, Ultamonkey,
Asterisk DUNDi, OpenSER. UltraMonkey setup went pretty easy, workes
fine with Debian Sarge, used the example on the ultramonkey website.
LVS_NAT is a different story, a bit more complex and requires another
server/director sitting in front of 2 asterisk servers. Also have in
production OpenSER proxying calls

Two Easy questions
...unctions...)
but the only doubt is that I cannot find the way to add in the associated
intersection (the point scattered) the label "Pepe" "Paco" and so on...So
next to point (1,85&10) will appear Pepe.
Imagine I can get it (if the points are closer and the associated names
(labes) cross how can I modified them?
If someone can send me a link to investigate will be perfect¡¡¡
Can anyone help me?
Second, I have read that with R we can dowload directly stock market
historical information from google or yahoo. Can anyone guide me how to do
it or more easily where I can find in...

Backing up mail?
My mail server is running on a Fedora FC5 box. I need to move the
mail server to another computer and so I need to back up my user's
mail and move it. I have found mail in /var/spoo/mail/[users] and in
their home directories there is a 'mail' directory. All users have
an 'Inbox' file that is empty and I think the one IMAP user has a
'Trash' file that is huge!

RExcel
Hello-
I am a Graduate Assistant for an instructor who has written programs for
statistics calculations such as binomial distributions and regressions.
The programs had worked with no problem in Excel 2003. Now we are trying to
use it with Excel 2007, and we are having some trouble.
I have downloaded RandFriends and have ran the binomial distribution
process in 2007 Excel and have received an

change the label size when drawing trees with ape

I want to be able to change the labe size on a tree
when using ape package so that the graph can look
nicer, but don't know how. Playing with the "font"

show.)
Thanks for your help!

mail directory in user home?
Hey:
When I run dovecot and retrieve any mail for a user, a mail directory
is created in the users home. It has a subdirectory Inbox. No mail
goes there however, it all goes to /var/spool/username. What is that
directory for and how do I get it to not make it or can I? I am only
using POP3.
Thanks,

no x label using axis.Date
I have tried multiple different methods to figure out how to get a date axis
of my preference (start date of each month). Any assistance would be
appreciated.
The below section is not producing a date axis:
plot(totaldays$totaldays,totaldays$y,type="n",ylim=c(0,Emax),xaxt="n")
*xlabels<-(strptime(totaldays$totaldays,"%Y-%m-%d",tz=""))
