value labes Stata vs factors
Dear Sir/Madam,
I converted my Stata Rgenmetvl.dta file with read.dta succesfully in R's
Rgenmetvl.Rdata. However, factors give problem in certain calculations,
e.g.:
> mean(Rgenmetvl$sex)
[1] NA
Warning message:
In mean.default(Rgenmetvl$sex) :
argument is not numeric or logical: returning NA
What can I do?
In addition to means, summary(Rgenmetvl$sex) works perfectly.
Best regards,

Vegan: how to plot sites labes in diversity plot
Dear List,
I can'f figure how to add point labels in the next plot (example from
?taxondive help page, from vegan package):
library(vegan)
data(dune)
data(dune.taxon)
taxdis <- taxa2dist(dune.taxon, varstep=TRUE)
mod <- taxondive(dune, taxdis)
plot(mod)
The points in this plot are diversity values of single sites, and I'd

Ultrastmonkey? Ultramonkeyast? Astrimonkey? High Availability and Asterisk
Hi All,
I've been labing up some HA Asterisk senario's using LVS, Ultamonkey,
Asterisk DUNDi, OpenSER. UltraMonkey setup went pretty easy, workes
fine with Debian Sarge, used the example on the ultramonkey website.
LVS_NAT is a different story, a bit more complex and requires another
server/director sitting in front of 2 asterisk servers. Also have in
production OpenSER proxying calls

Two Easy questions
...I have a matrix with trhee columns:
A=
Name Eight Puntuation
Pepe 1,85 10
Paco 1,7 7
Pablo 1,82 6
I want to scatter the two columns (I could use pairs or other functions...)
but the only doubt is that I cannot find the way to add in the associated
intersection (the point scattered) the label "Pepe" "Paco" and so on...So
next to point (1,85&10) will appear Pepe.
Imagine I can get it (if the points are closer and the associated names
(labes) cross how can I modified them?
If someone can send me a link to investigate will be perfect¡¡¡
Can anyone help me?

[sem package] path.diagram() ignores the edge.label argument ..?
hi,
I plot path diagrams with the path.diagram() function of the sem
package in combination with the graphviz application.
Now I want the graphviz code for a path-plot with the actual
standardized coefficients on the arrows (not the names).
I tried to add edge.labels="values" as an argument to path.diagram()
but it's just ignored.
can anyone help me on that?
p.s.;
here is the actual code;

RExcel
...thinking that
something in the macro library in the demo must be different than what is in
a blank excel document. I just cannot seem to figure out what it is.
One thing that I did notice is that there are two different RExcel files in
the RExcel folder. One is labled "RExcel" and one is labed "RExcel 2007."
What are the difference between these two RExcel files? I am not sure if
this has anything to do with the problem, but perhaps the excel demo in
which our calculations work uses the correct RExcel file while a regular
excel 2007 document does not call the correct one.

Re: DON'T DELETE THIS MESSAGE

This text is part of the internal format of your mail folder, and is
not a real message. It is created automatically by the mail system
software. If deleted, important folder data will be lost, and it will
be re-created with the data reset to initial values.

no x label using axis.Date
...have tried multiple different methods to figure out how to get a date axis
of my preference (start date of each month). Any assistance would be
appreciated.
The below section is not producing a date axis:
plot(totaldays$totaldays,totaldays$y,type="n",ylim=c(0,Emax),xaxt="n")
*xlabels<-(strptime(totaldays$totaldays,"%Y-%m-%d",tz=""))
xlabels<-xlabels[xlabels$mday==1]
axis.Date(1,at=xlabels,format="%b-%Y")*
The above section is used in the following plot:

par(mar=c(0.8,0,0,0))
par(oma=c(2,4.5,3,2))
