Wine Opens Everything by Default
...mple, when I used to open Pictures it used to use one of Linux's image viewers like Gwenview. However, after downloading Wine it's been using Wine, then opens up Internet Explorer, and then opens up the picture. The same goes for text files. When I try to open a text file, instead of using KWord, it uses a program from Windows in Wine.

Attempting to shrink speex: Are these functions necessary?
...npack in the code. As for the memory allocation in the encoder, the best is to use C99 variable-size arrays (VAR_ARRAYS) or alloca (USE_ALLOCA). Otherwise, you can make the static array much smaller. For 8 kbps, the total RAM requirement (not counting code or static tables) should be around 4 kB (2 kWords). two cents or not two cents
Hello Producers "Longevity of Support" is an attractive drawcard for CentOS if it means the exact opposite of Fedora's "short support cycle" that does not provide updating of infrastructural libraries for very long, libraries which newer versions of applications (like Firefox, Thunderbird, Opera etc) depend on and which wont install unless the libraries are also newer

From a newbie: how to run MS Word?
Hi! Half an hour ago I installed wine-20041201 under Mandrake Linux 9.1, successfully I think. On my PC I also have a partition with Windows 98 in it, correctly mounted. I installed Wine with the main purpose of properly writing and reading documents in MS Word, since neither kword, nor Open Office kwrite nor even abiword achieve this purpose in a satisfaying way. Now, probably I haven't understood the basics of Wine, bare with me: but how do I run MS Word with Wine?? I tried from command line with '$ wine word', '$ wine word.exe', always getting the messa...

Attempting to shrink speex: Are these functions necessary?
Hi, I am using speex 1.2beta2 on a narrowband 16-bit, 8khz system that has a severe program space problem and will not fit speex in its normal operation. In an attempt to shrink speex I placed a breakpoint in every function and ran a decode and encode and removed the breakpoints that I hit. in the functions that had a breakpoint that I didn't hit I commented out those functions (as well as

OT: Creating documentation using a web interface
Hello all, I would like to document some things I am doing with asterisk, but would prefer to do this from a web interface. I am unfamiliar with any software that allows you to create online documentation from a web interface. Ideally I will be able to create documentation online from a browser, which then when saved, is immediately ready to be read online. Perhaps I can setup different authors
