Kvin's g.723-gcc4 and asterisk 1.4.1
Hi FOlks, I am using for research purposes Kvin's codecs available at http://kvin.lv/pub/Linux/Asterisk/ G729 is working very well but g723 has a very poor audio quality. I recompiled everything with gcc4 and the distro used is Slackware 11. Anyone with some experience on that? Thanks in advance for any help. Isamar Maia +55-71-9146-8...

Installing the none commercial intel g729 codecs into Asterisk@Home 2.2?
...dn't work for me (Debian, > Asterisk 1.2 from svn) but just adding the binaries (see the wiki on > voip.org) did the job. Have you already tried the binaries? > Kewl! Those work like a treat! As my testbox is a PII-750 running A@H 2.2 I did: cd /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/ wget http://kvin.lv/pub/Linux/Asterisk/codec_g723-gcc-pentium2.so wget http://kvin.lv/pub/Linux/Asterisk/codec_g729-gcc-pentium2.so After reloading, 'show translation' gives: Translation times between formats (in milliseconds) Source Format (Rows) Destination Format(Columns) g7...

Re: [Asterisk-Dev] Free G.729 ready for download
I expropriated the right to rip Daniel's disclamer for use in my email too.. DISCLAIMER: You might have to pay royalty fees to the G.729 patent holders for using their algorithm. For easier testing I prepared codec_g729.so binaries and associated libraries and put them on the web: http://kvin.lv/pub/Linux/Asterisk/ arkadi.

Installing the none commercial intel g729codecsinto Asterisk@Home 2.2?
I downloaded and installed the none commercial g729 codec very often now I only disable HT on my systems I think * doesn't like this One of the guys @ digium advised me to turn it of, since they haven't written * to be multi treading any way The codec I download is the http://kvin.lv/pub/Linux/Asterisk/codec_g729-gcc-pentium4.so It should work fine. Wouldn't know what it does when you parallel install it with the commercial ones. For my customers using *, I purchase * commercial edition with a g729 for each phone attached to the system. But test servers run...

Digium G729 licensing - is it worth the trouble?
I have been impressed with the quality and meagre bandwidth of the G729 codec from Digium. I am in a testing phase of our roll out, we are using 5 Asterisk PBXs in various countries to provide connectivity for our employees, owners and family. As we are testing, and our setup is somewhat complex due to the peculiarities of our connectivity, there has had to be a lot of changes to servers, cards to

call from h323 to SIP
Hi i am trying to do the same thing: receive a call from a cisco callmanager and forward it to a SIP user. Asterisk is compiled with h323 support, and is configured as a gateway in the cisco callmanager. h323.conf: [general] port = 1720 bindaddr = 193.x.x.x ; this SHALL contain a single, valid IP address for this machine allow=all extension.conf: exten = 3298,1,Answer exten =

G.729 pre-compiled binaries and Asterisk 1.2.x.
Asterisk 1.2.24 seems to crash repeatedly under any substantial call load (and sometimes without a substantial call load - just one SIP leg is enough to do it) when using the G.729 pre-compiled binaries from: http://asterisk.hosting.lv/ As per: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+G.729+Licensing Time to crash is variable, but seems to require at least an hour of production performance
