Emulation question
...BIOS decides that the CD is bootable and
attempts to boot it. After that a blank screen with the cursor in the upper
left corner is displayed, forever.
Any clues? Should I be using hard disk emulation or turning emulation off?
(floppy emulation is out because of size requirements).

isolinux boooting update
An update to the problem I reported earlier -
A kind list reader, Michael K Ter Louw, suggested I try syslinux
v1.67, and viola!, my problem went away completely. So something between
1.67 and 1.71 got broke with respect to isolinux. Hmm...
Another kind list reader, Seth Kurtzberg, was kind enough to make
and effort to send an updated initrd; although it didn't solve the
problem, it was quite a generous gesture, thank you.

Question on "root pivot" function
...boot

kernel on the floppy disk to mount the CD, and then after the CD is
mounted it would reboot with the

have I left the trail.

SYSLINUX 1.73-pre4 released
Yet another test release for the rewrite in progress. This version
generalizes the definition of a boot sector, and puts the boot sector
code into all the modules, so that a CD-ROM "boot sector" (like WinNT
uses) and a PXE NBP should now all be possible to chainload.
PLEASE test it out, pretty please... I haven't heard anything from
anyone since at least 1.73-pre2.

isolinux bug?
Please forgive me if this is a known issue or "feature". I didn't notice
anything in the list archives or the docs, so I'm assuming this is a bug.
I was attempting to create a bootable LFS cd using the instructions found at
http://hints.linuxfromscratch.org/hints/boot-cd_easy.txt. I wasn't following
the steps exactly as I had some personal changes I wanted to make. One

recovery system
First: My English is not that good, I hope you can understand what I mean.
We plan to build a recovery system for the computer in our school. We want
to put an [computername].tar.bz2 for every computer onto our server. When
the computer does not work we want to use a Linux bootdisk to boot the
computer, mount the drive, erase what is there and extract the .tar.bz2 onto
the disk. This is where we

Making Syslinux boot with missing keyboard, but not disabled keyboard.
Hello together,
first thanks a lot for your work. It's quite useful on some projects. I
encouraged myself to ask you a question:
Think I've seen Syslinux booting fli4l on Systems without keyboard,
where "keyboard option" has been set to "not installed" in the Bios.
There are lot of boards around, e.g. with award bios like those 486 UMC
based on UMC 8881/8886, without
