DHCP update registration DNS Bind9
Dear, What do I need to configure the DHCP Bind9 update DNS records? I'm using Samba 4.4.5 AD and Bind 9. The DHCP passes the IP to the host but the DNS record is not updated. Thank you!

Samba 4 internal DNS and reverse zones
...e of them worked out of the box. The Samba wiki suggests creating the zones with the RSAT DNS tool and various people I've come across have commented that from that point onwards records were added by Windows clients joining. I couldn't get this working so I tried the script on Michael Kuron's site as it threw up messages about GSS failing before DHCP server would eventually hang. While it ran, it would add entries consisting of the mac address as it failed to pick up the name of the machine. Is there an easy way to achieve this or do I carry on plugging away with the script?...

Samba4 RC5 BIND9 and DHCP
I'm attempting to get a recent build of S4 rc5 + Bind9 + ISC DHCP server running. I've got everything pretty much set up, have attempted to implement a modified version of the script from here: http://blog.michael.kuron-germany.de/2011/02/isc-dhcpd-dynamic-dns-updates-against-secure-microsoft-dns/ but I keep getting a "TKEY is unacceptable" error. I've even attempted to step through the process contained in the script manually, but I still get the same error. Which keytab file should I be using in...

Samba4 - Bind Config with DHCP
To those who will eb able to assist, Platform: On Ubuntu 12.04 I have used the latest Git version. I have installed isc-dhcp-server and bind9 from the plain apt repositories and have configured DHCP and BIND9 so that DHCP can update DNS entries via the hmac-md5 as so: key rndc-key { algorithm hmac-md5; secret "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX==";} allow unknown-clients; use-host-decl-names on;

pfSense DHCP integration with Samba AD DDNS
Hi Rowland, I don't want to to run an AD DC on firewall device, barely DHCP and maybe DNS. What you have pointed me to is similar to what I have in place: https://blog.michael.kuron-germany.de/2011/02/isc-dhcpd-dynamic-dns-updates-against-secure-microsoft-dns/ and which is working fine. NOW I want to switch DHCP from isc-dhcp-server 4.2.2 on Debian to DHCP on pfSense firewall (based on FreeBSD 11.2) which reports as below: pkg info | grep dhcp dhcp6-20080615.2?????????????...

Samba 4, DHCP and Bind
Hi All, I'm trying to integrate Samba 4 DHCPD and Bind 9.9 into a complete solution. I'm using the BIND/Samba 4 DLZ plugin. DHCP by itself works and hands out IP addresses. What I would like to have happen is the following: - PC is joined to the Samba 4 domain (this works) - PC gets an IP via DHCPD - DHCP or the PC registers the IP in BIND Network PC's should resolve cleanly when

[samba4] DNS updates
Hi all, I would like to be able to rely on samba given tools to manage my DNS entries but until now, I failed. >From what I have understood there is one and only one tool responsible to update DNS: samba_dnsupdate. Is that previous affirmation true? I had issue with DNS backend set to internal DNS server: samba_dnsupdate was almost never working. So I switched to Bind-DLZ as advised here

Extending the schema
Hi all, I'm trying to extend the schema on my Samba4 setup by adding apple's schema. I followed the instructions from https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Schema_extenstions and http://blog.michael.kuron-germany.de/2011/02/active-directory-mac-os-x-mcx/ (I think this is a modified apple.schema but I haven't found the original yet) and have got it to import the schema OK (I had to remove the class rDNAttID for all the classes). I'll post my notes on it presently... My question is - how do...

How to handle secure AD dynamic DNS registrations?
Hi, My apologies for the newbie question/dumb-question-of-the-day but when searching the archives I couldn't see the wood for the trees :-/ Are there any good walkthroughs/RTFMs out there for troubleshooting getting samba to register DNS entries to an AD controller that requires secure updates? I have a CentOS 6 server that seems to be set up correctly. Initially it worked fine, but then

how to allow ISC dhcpd to add/update entries to bind9 with bind_dlz (samba4)
Hello all, I have set up a samba4 server with bind9 and the bind_dlz module. Everything is working as it should but now I need to allow the dhcp server to add entries to the forwarding zone. Has anybody implemented such a configuration ? Can this be done with the kerberos DNS dynamic update configuration. I want to achieve the following: 1) allow non-Windows machines (printers, ILO ...) to be

Hi Rowland, Your DHCP is updating bind DLZ directly right. Are you scripted with on commit, etc or just using ddns-update-style?
