Howto get playtime
Hi,
Searched in Google, browsed xiph vorbis sites but found no good information
about how to get the current playtime out of the granuleposition of the
ogg_packet.
Anyone knows if there is any 'Programming with libvorbis' documentation out
there, cause on xiph's site (http://www.xiph.org/vorbis/doc/) there's
nothing :(
Any help?

Licensing Question
Hi there,
I am new to Ogg/Theora and am trying to compare several video codecs as part
of my master thesis at the University of Klagenfurt.
Therefore I have a question: will there be any patents problems using
Ogg/Theora in the future? Is/will Ogg/Theora stay free from patents rights?
This would be a great advantage in using Ogg/Theora instead of e.g. H.264
which is covered with numerous

mpeg4/xvid/divx vs. theora
Hi there,
I have an elementary question.
Although theora can be placed in the same class of codecs as MPEG-1, -2, -4
why is there no greater usage of this codec?
On the bigger part of web sites trailers or short videos are encoded with
some mpeg codec. Why is theora still so rarely used and unfamiliar although
it perfomes very well from my point of view?
Is it, because
- the whole mpeg family is

Alpha 5 to Beta 1
I've just read on wiki.xiph.org, that the next release of Theoara will be Beta
1. My Questions:
Can anyone estimate how much faster encoding will get?
How many potential is there, improving encoding-time with Theora?
What about things concerning MMX?

Hi there,
I've found no answers to this question from Fri Apr 15 19:33:50 2005.
Are there any answers now?

Building Theora
Hi,
I'm trying to build Theora without installing but building Ogg.
This doesn't seem to work:
LIBOGG = [...]/libogg-1.1.2
LD_LIBRARY_PATH = $(LIBOGG)/src/.libs
./configure \
--with-ogg-libraries=$(LIBOGG)/src/.libs/ \
--with-ogg-includes=$(LIBOGG)/include/ \
--prefix=/usr \
results in:
checking for ogg >= 1.1... checking for Ogg... no
