Accidental samba_dnsupdate success after NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
...t all appears to work. My question pertains to the accidental discovery that the original DC no longer failed with an NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED when the samba service on it was in a stopped state. Maybe it just doesn't matter? Are there any hidden repercussions? Thank you, 73, -- Don Kuenz KB7RPU There was a young lady named Bright Whose speed was far faster than light; She set out one day In a relative way And returned on the previous night.

Is it possible to transfer a large, dynamic file in a piecemeal fashion? Yes it is.
You probably want --inplace for this rather than partial. The upside of --partial is that the existing file isn't replaced until there is a complete file to replace it with. The downside is building up that entire new file. On 09/05/2017 12:01 AM, Don Kuenz via rsync wrote: > Subject: Re: Is it possible to transfer a large, dynamic file in a piecemeal fashion? samba_backup script doesn't use tdbbackup for tdb files?
...In the end my questions remain: Does tar create a usable backup of *.tdb files? Why is tdbbackup named tdbbackuup instead of ldbbackup if it's only used with *.ldb files? (Is tdbbackuup simply a legacy name that's no longer apropos to *.tdb files?) Thank you, -- Don Kuenz KB7RPU Genius is nothing but a greater aptitude for patience. - de Buffon

How to add rfc2307 after a join
...use rfc2307 = yes' was not used. How do you correct this oversight? Is it possible to remove the new Samba 4.7 from the original domain and then join it to the original domain yet again but this time use --option='idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes' ? Is it possible to transfer a large, dynamic file in a piecemeal fashion?
...transfer the 2TB file Unless there's an option to have rsync pick up where it left off it seems impossible to transmit a large file in a piecemeal fashion. Because the (nearly) same 200GB at the beginning of the 2TB file gets retransmitted over and over with each restart.
